Went back to the track last night to test some new Mickey Thompson drag radials, and the truck put up almost identical times as we did 2 weeks ago. Truck ran 12.52 and 12.59 on the 30" drag radials and 12.49 on the 28" Hoosier slicks...

It was probably around 1400-1500. It wasn't cold, but I wasn't sweating too bad.

That Chevy actually has a 6.0 with a cam and converter, but is missing gears and some sticky tires. The owner is actually a new member here and has a really nice 2014 Ram as well.

The 7:15 pass and the 7:39 pass comparo: you can see the trans does not like to be warm. 60' fell off .004 Later on when you went back to the slicks, and it was cooler again, the 60' came back. Also, look at the big difference in MPH. Kinda weird....

The drag radials are heavier than slicks, thus affecting the ET.

Needs more cam! LOL More converter! More more more, especially with those big **** heads! LOL But I alwars want more....

Converter is what is missing from this setup. The truck has more than enough power up top, but I am just not getting off the line quick enough.

Also, the mph difference on that 12.59 pass was because I let off early. The track was a mess yesterday, and the lights were not working on the left lane. I was 6 seconds ahead of the Chevy truck I was racing, and let off once I passed the scoreboard. You can see that my 1/8th MPH was over 89, but only trapped 106 in the 1/4 because I let off a little too soon.

Here is a video of the 12.52 pass. You can see at the end how neither lane has any lights working. No win light and no timers on the scoreboard. The vette I ran in this video is the one that ended up shutting us down for 2.5 hours. It was a rough night out there yesterday.

Seems like it was a rough night!

Good thing is the truck works on radials as it sits now.

I know it's a different world, but we build our converters to flash right at 300 rpm below peak torque. Yes even our street driven cars. Have an LS Mustang that drives on the street with a 5400 converter. But we also aren't afraid to run cams in the 260+ duration on the street.

Once you get the converter worked out and some cool weather you're gonna destroy the record

I was wondering what the deal was with the mph on that pass

The drag radials are heavier than slicks, thus affecting the ET.

You are correct about radials affecting the ET differently then the slicks because the weight difference, but there is still a 2" diameter difference which changes the gear ratio. I have found out 9/10, if you can hook on a radial just as good as a slick, then you will be faster on a radial even if it weighs more. Most of this has to do with sidewall stiffness and tire pressure differences between the two. Slicks are just easier to hook on for the most part.
