Finally, people didn't spend $1300+ to be Morimoto's R&D lab. People expected a finished product at these prices, not this mess. Why are early adopters essentially bankrolling a finished product for people a year after the initial release?
You hit the nail on the head with this response. Not only has Morimoto/TRS used its customer base for their own R&D for these lights, but other lights as well (Ford, Etc.)
I’m not sure how many know this but when Morimoto launches the new XB 2.0 HID Ballasts there was THOUSANDS of them that were sold and DOA and customers were shipped broken and not working ballasts, along with ballasts with all kinds of issues. They blamed it on a “bad batch” (like it’s some kind of drug) and had to reissue thousands of ballasts. What did they do with the left overs from the “bad batch”? Listed them in their “clearance” section and still sell them to customers at a discounted rate.
I’ve noticed over the last 12 months or so Morimoto/TRS has been shipping out products that they are NOT FULLY TESTING and customers are left to deal with the aftermath and report all the issues just so they can take their sweet old time releasing an updated product. By then, the customer is outside their return window and left with trying to get a warranty claim, that apparently Morimoto/TRS is now not honoring.
I do know this, when a company offers a warranty on a product, and the customer has that product and the product has CLEAR DEFECTS and ISSUES, when that said company refuses to honor their warranty, I do believe that is a crime and against the law.
Morimoto/TRS is going to have a class action lawsuit on their hands if their are not careful.
“We know that our product is failing at an exceptionally high rate (90% +) but we are not issuing replacements because it will just happen again.”
Unreal. I’ve never had an issue getting a warranty replacement for small things from them (bulbs, ballasts, led drivers, etc.) but seeing how they are handling all of this, I have decided that I won’t be ordering anything over $150 from them, for fear that I’ll be stuck with a broken product and told “we know it’s broken, but oh well, deal with it, your problem not ours.”
