So I've got an issue with my HIDs that is driving me nuts...

My driver side will work fine for a bit and then go out. If you try and turn the lights on and off again immediately, the driver side won't come on, but if the truck sits for a while, it will come on and then shut off again a while later.

I replaced the bulb last night and that didn't fix anything. What's next? Ballast, CANBUS adapter? These are a 55w Morimoto kit from retroshop. They've been in the truck for a little over 3 years.

swap your ballasts passenger to driver and driver to passenger and see if the problem stays on the driver side or if it moves with the ballast.

I had this same issue a couple of years ago when I installed Morimoto HID's on my 2014 RAM. They literally only lasted two days.. I couldn't figure it out so I called it quits and went back to halogen.. I went with DDM tuning 35w 5500k on my 2016 RAM (purchased mid 2017) and they work great ($90 on Amazon prime)! I can't tell the difference between these and Morimoto. They look great matched up to my Morimoto vertical LED projector fogs. On the flipside, I developed condensation in the lower section by the LED turn signals on both sides after installing my HID's and going through the carwash. They dried out overnight and condensation reappeared after driving into work without rain the next morning, just cool out at 45F at 5AM. I dried them out yesterday, used black silicone around the entire housing, sealed the gasket for the wires coming out of the dust caps, and fully extended all three vents on both sides which seemed to have been mostly shut. So far no condensation this morning. We have rain moving in this afternoon at 50F. I will test it out again, but so far so good.

I've got a spare ballast that I ordered a while ago when I had a separate problem that I'll swap in tonight

I'm going to use these as a backup plan. Where did you mount your ballasts?

As soon as you pull your lights out you’ll find exposed metal framing underneath where the lights normally sit. They fit perfect with room to spare. I secured mine with 3/4” metal tap screws. You don’t have to run power to the battery and you don’t have to ground anything. It’s all plug and play. The anti flicker module and igniter then tuck away easily into the crevasses behind the light.

Check your ground. Should have Bare metal contact if it has the Capacitor ground. My Driver side would be intermittent until I made a cleaner metal surface.

I don't have a relay harness or ground, I'm running the plug and play CANBUS adapters

X2. Make sure your grounds are still clean.

**Posted reply from another thread with similar issue**

I've been having issues with my driver side as well.

SPECS w/ISSUE:
13 Ram Sport
FX-R Retrofit
Morimoto D2S 5500k
DDM Canbus Plus 35w

The above setup worked for about 1 1/2 years with no issue. I then got the lamp out notification on the dash and over time the driver side HID would fail to immediately ignite. Sometimes it would ignite as early as 30 seconds to as long as 30 minutes before it finally quit working. I sent in the driver side DDM Canbus Plus ballast and received a new one. The new worked for about two weeks before I started getting the same issues. I again used a new (third now) ballast and swapped the bulbs to a different brand (NHK D2H 5500K via Lightwerkz). I've only had them in less than a week now so we'll see how it goes. I'm thinking/hoping that maybe the bulb was starting to crap out. I switched to D2H just for easier fitment w/n the headlight housing.
