Has anyone given these a shot? TRS says they're auxiliary but at 3,000 lumens and 5,000K color temperature, it seems like they might be viable as low beams inside of the stock projector housing (or a nice FX-R housing).

Morimoto XB LED headlight bulbs CREE

I could definitely see the heat being a problem out in AZ, though. Especially since they have no fan.

The motimotos are on backorder at TRS. I picked up a set of knock offs from EBay for my fogs and you can barely see the low beams on the road when the fogs are on now. I have a set of knock offs coming for my low beams and will post some before and after pics once I get them installed. I don't expect them to be as bright as HIDs but hopefully they will be brighter than halogens.

I installed the 6000k knockoff/ebay versions in my low beam projectors (2014 ram 2500 laaramie) and just installed a 9005 version for my foglights (the heat dissipators are too big to fit in the high beam housing). It's insanely bright. Laughably bright (I think brighter than some HIDs). I drove through a farm road late at night with just the fog lights on and it lights up the surrounding area like its daylight. I also checked the heat from the dissipators and it wasnt too hot either.

Only issue is that it still won't clear the lids on the headlight housing and I had to use a dremel + smokeless tobacco containers to free up some space, and even then it'll barely clear when you put the housing back together b/c it sits in front of some pole in the frame that will push the housing forward a bit. I was able to get it back enough, but you'll have trouble locking the housing down with the white locking strip inside the front wheel wells.

Another option would be these which I ordered for the high beams (though they're 2500lm per bulb vs 3000lm for the Morimotos): 2015 New 40W 5000LM H7 H8 H9 H11 9005 9006 H10 H16 CREE LED Headlight Kit 6000K | eBay

I plan to install those for my high beams sometime next week and I'll take pics of the mod I did to the housing cover for those interested.

I am interested to hear your thoughts on those lights. They are cool in concept.

I got an email from TRS that my Morimotos were being shipped so I hope to have them installed this weekend if the weather holds out.

I got them installed 3 weeks ago and have them as my high beams and they work GREAT! I was surprised how bright they are and the color is spot on for 6000K. No issues so far other than the typical head-light out message b/c of the CANBUS nonsense.

Also, this is what I was talking about with fitting the "Morimoto style" bulbs (PICS BELOW). Because the bulbs stick out, I had to cut out the housing lid and basically used tobacco dip containers to reclose it. Even with all that, it's still a tight fit, but it fits. I used a rubber seal around the edges of the containers to prevent any water from getting in. Again, pics below:

Thanks for following up! Good to hear that the LEDs with the ribbon heatsink are working out as highbeams. nice work reusing that old dip can :favorites13:
