If you have a chance to buy a 440 for the truck and you are serious about doing the swap I would evaluate my fabrication and wiring/electrical skills first and then I would inventory all of my tools. If you can do some fabrication you can save yourself alot of time and money. The bellhousing adapters are pricey. Do some research and find yourself a 727B with the long tailshaft. This way it will bolt up to the 440. Fabricating a transmission mount is not that hard and getting a driveshaft made by a local driveshaft shop is just as easy. If you want to simplify the installation you can get rid of the column shifter and go with a cable operated floor-mounted shifter from one of many manufacturers. If you are not going to go with a manual valve body make sure you get the throttle valve connected and working properly so the transmission will upshift and downshift properly with the pedal.Hello all I have a 1991 D150 with a tbi 318 auto, I’m have a shot at buying a 440 bb for it.
