I really don't understand how my 22 Ram 1500 could possibly be getting worse city mpg than my worn out 99 ram high top conversion van with over 200,000 miles??? It makes no sense, Ram has better aerodynamics, newer engine technology, and 8,800 miles. I've always gotten at least the epa estimated highway mpg on anything I've drove besides this truck.

I actually have no idea what the avg mpg is on either of my trucks, nor do I bother thinking about it, it's a truck. I just put gas in it when I need too. I do know it uses a lot more when I'm towing the travel trailer - lol.

1) Gonna take a while for engine to break in. Mileage will improve some. STOP and GO in town will eat up the mpg's also.
2) You have the Bighorn, so I "assume" you have the SO motor not the HO motor.
3) My son on his 2025 Bighorn got almost 20 mpg traveling from NJ to FL and back with stops (running 89 octane gas). Motor still got a while to breaks in. the lie -o-meter will never be exact, once breaks in ok, should be within *** amount of mpg average, why U need to fill the same way, use same fuel octane and brand if possible for hand calc.
4) U may wanna think about changing oil and filter once U get some miles on the ride. With the double turbo engines, I would not GO OVER 5,000K on OCI, screw wat the manuals say and/or the oil meter. Rotate tires at 5K too. But for initial change I sure as heck would not go 5K.

All above IMHO.

I can get 20 ish on highway with cruise on. But towing my Stock trailer with loaded hay, 6000 lbs and/or more, I drop to 12 mpg or less, LOL. But I do have a new than in 2019, 5th Gen truck, 5/7L VVT, no E junk, but I am running AT tires which will drop mpg 1 - 1 1/2 mpg than stock SRA balloons.

I did the first oil change at 580 miles, will do another at 5k miles.

Used Costco Premium for the first several tanks, but will switch to regular now that I have a baseline. After 5k or 10k miles I’ll run 3 tanks of premium again and see if there is a difference. I’ve had vehicles that liked premium in the past. We’ll see.

My 2.7 Eco-boost got noticeably better mileage after 10k but didn’t care whether I was running premium or regular.

Then drive your ecoboost every day and sell your truck to someone who understands that trucks don't get good mileage because of weight, gears and the rotating mass needed todo real work.

If I need 35 mpg I drive a 3400 lb 122 ci.340 hp A3 to make the 60 mile grocery run not a 5800 lb un aerodynamic 345 ci V8. I do miss my merc.diesels economy.
My Big Honda Trike doesn’t get 35 mpg. 31 the absolute most usually 27/29 lol.
