My 2016 5.7 Hemi 1500 Outdoorsman MPG has dropped off. Went from 20 mpg highway down to about 16 mpg and city went down to about 13 mpg. Manifold bolts replaced, new coils and plugs. Thinking about using an injector cleaner and running a higher-grade fuel. Any suggestions on a good cleaner would be appreciated!

How long have you had the truck? It says you are from Michigan and will say that every winter the MPG drops on all my vehicles. The combination of winter blend gas, just driving in cold weather, and maybe starting it and letting it warm up. Also, have you done anything else like different tires or a lift recently?

fuel economy always decreases during winter due to colder air temperature and lower energy density gasoline (more volatile for easier starting).

Always has.

Are you comparing mileage from this winter to warmer winters?
Have you been using Top Tier gasoline consistently?

Octane does not increase fuel economy unless the engine has flexible ignition timing, which Hemi does. Factory setting is for 89 octane. If you are using 87 octane, the engine reduces ignition timing after feeling preignition knocking, which lowers mileage. But if that's the only octane you have been using, then their wouldn't be any difference.

If you don't use Top Tier Fuel, you should start and then use Red Line SL-1 to clean. And ask for injector cleaning procedure from @Wild one

I used to always use "top Tier " gasoline, but, for the past year i've been using BP Gasoline. It doesn't have the TT sticker on the pumps, so i wondered why and found this:

"No, BP gas is generally not considered Top Tier anymore, as they were removed from the official TOP TIER™ list around late 2021 for no longer paying the required fees, despite their own claims of high-quality additives like Invigorate® meeting or exceeding standards. While BP says their gas cleans engines and meets standards, the lack of official certification means it doesn't carry the recognized Top Tier logo, which is recommended by many automakers for preventing engine deposits, especially in direct-injection (GDI) engines. "

So, you have to just pay a fee to have TT sticker on your gas pumps?

No way to tell for sure beyond paying for a fuel analysis.

Otherwise it's "trust me", by the guys that dumped crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico then sobbed how they missed their lives back at the U.K. yacht races. (actually happened)

I'm trying to figure out how he was getting 20 mpg on an Outdoorsman, my best stock was 17 mpg @74 mph.
The ride height and 3.92's seem to be a limiting factor.

I had a similar thing happen on my 2012. The fuel economy tanked from one tank to the next and never came back. It happened during the summer when I was heading out on a fishing trip. Normally, my 5.7 gave me 21 to 23 depending on how hurried I was. I dropped to 11 to 12 and stayed there. New plugs, new air filter, new intake manifold gaskets, replaced most sensors, MAP came from Chrysler. the other sensors came from a reputable auto parts store similar to O'Reilly's. I even tried a replacement PCM from Flagship 1. Nothing helped.
Now, you might want to check your engine vacuum. I tied a setup into my brake booster line and put on a long line so I could bring my guage into the cab.
I noticed that I had normal vacuum at idle and with the "slightest" increase in throttle opening while driving, the vacuum dropped to zero. While watching the throttle position, it responded what I would call un-naturally for the driving conditions. It would go almost "wide open" under the slightest load while on cruise control. I could see this on my diagnostic box.
Sometimes, the old "steam powered" vacuum guage works better than just relying on the reading given by the MAP. The steam guage is real time.
The interesting thing is that this happened before my lifer tick. Still today, the compression is good.
I too am at a loss as to where to turn next but it is winter here so It is parked.

Redline Si-1 is what is recommended from searching the forums, and you should be running 89 to begin with. I rarely drive on the highway, but my city driving, I'm lucky to get 12mpg, and that's miles/gallons at fill up.

My truck has 3.55s when it was running good, I could easily pull 21 mpg any day of the week. Now .... the Canadian Gallon is bigger than th US gallon. There is the difference. Canadian Gallon = 160 oz while a US Gallon = 132 oz.

I thought you were screwing with me but this is a real thing. 1) How did I never know this? 2) Why is this a thing?

To think that the world gives americans crap for using inch/lb as opposed to metric, meanwhile you canuks decided you needed a special gallon jug lol.

That stuff was taught to us in grade school. The proper terminology actually is "Imperial Gallon" which was given to us by the Brits along with feet, inches, yards, miles pounds etc. Worked good for us until we wound up with a slimeball Prime Minister back in the late 1960s and pretty much through the 1970s. He forces the metric system on to the country!
He did a lot of other stuff too that didn't sit well. The one biggest thing though was the creation of our last prime minister.
I could go on but ...........

I regularly get well over 20 mpg with my Outdoorsman unless I'm pulling the car hauler trailer, but mine doesn't have the Hemi.

It's an Imperial vs US gallon.
Back when the EcoD first came out there were a bunch of Canadians that were reporting significantly higher fuel economy compared to US counterparts. After some sorting out it was determined they were reporting the fuel economy MPG using imperial gallons.

over sized tires and lift kits will do that. Also, and maybe it's just me, i noticed that "winter blend gasoline" seems to give lower MPGs
What is the average MPG impact? Mine 5.7L Hemi, is lifted, has slightly larger than spec tires. I run High Test in all my vehicles to avoid the alcohol. All driving, I seem to be a little under 16 mpg average.
