So I have done my first major modification, had my muffler deleted with a Y pipe. Man does my truck sound like a truck now!!! I left the resonators because I was worried about any drone or weird noises when ECO came in, and I can't be more happy!!!

So when you say muffler delete , you cut the mufflers off and just added a Y pipe to the back ?

Please elaborate more on the process .
I'm not well versed on exhaust systems.
Where are the resonators located and what is the purpose of the resonator ?

I'm sure they ran a pipe to make up length of muffler added a Y pipe to connect to the rear duals and the resonators take drone and poping and bad vibrations and just quites it down a Lil bit

Thanks , so the location of the resonator is prior to or after the muffler ?

After I know on the dual models they are located right behind each tip pretty much

What is the actual designed purpose of the muffler ? I'm sure it aids in quieting down the exhaust system, but wouldn't it also provide back pressure th the engine ? I would think the back pressure would be factored in with the factory tune ... I like the sound @ idle , do you guys have a video of a muffler delete in a drive by ?

The mufflercontrols noise volume. I run with my exhaust cutout open (so straight piped like him) and there is a slight lost in performance due to not enough back pressure but the sound makes it up for me

The muffler helps with the emissions

No.

and provides back pressure, and controls noise volume. I run with my exhaust cutout open (so straight piped like him) and there is a slight lost in performance due to not enough back pressure but the sound makes it up for me

Where did this "back pressure is good" myth come from? Seems like everybody is always spouting it.

Back pressure is a measure of restriction in the exhaust. It is not something that you want.
Catalytic converters are the number 1 restriction in the exhaust system.
Choose a muffler that you like the sound of. Enjoy it.
