Ok guys, I decided to get a Mufflex muffler for my 2013. But I can't decide what to get...14" or 18"? I want some devastating rumble when I rip on it but I don't really want 20 minutes of drone driving to work everyday, so it needs to be manageable at cruising speeds. I've listened to tons of clips on Youtube but still can't decide! Does anyone have either muffler and can offer personal experience! I'll throw a poll up also just for fun!

Also, will an aftermarket muffler void my warranty? I don't want any muffler delete or resonator delete...I want to stay close to stock and avoid any warranty void issues.

I'm in the same boat. Going to watch this thread. Reviews I've seen have said that the 14 drones on the highway under 2K RPM, so I'm thinking I don't want that when I take a trip. So hard to get a real sense of the exhaust note from the video's though.

Exactly, I drive a lot under 2000 RPM so this alone might lean me toward the 18" but lets see what others have to say.

I have an 18" Magnaflow. Same thing as Mufflex (more or less). My driving is in the city 40-50mph and I don't think I would like anymore drone that what I have. You will get votes for both. I had a wife and 2 kids to think about too in my decision. I don't think it would be a warranty issue.

I have a 14" magnaflow. Drone is minimal if you have the radio on even at a low level. The crew cab helps too.

on the move..

DODM80 here, no drone, not nearly as loud as I thought it would be inside (that's why I never pulled the trigger until I heard it in person), sounds awesome outside the truck! No regrets at all.

I love my 18" mufflex, has a nice throaty roar when I get on it, but just a tiny hint of drone on the highway, you have to have the radio off and actually listen for it to hear it. I spend a lot of time on the highway, so it's perfect for me

Is the idle and accelerate sound of the 18" much louder or noticeable than the factory? It is hard to tell in the video clips.

I have a 14 si/so on my 13 rcsb and have no drone. It wasn't nearly loud enough I just took the resonator and tailpipe off and put a 45degree turndown in its place. Much better sounding now and no drone still though mds sounds so crappy I just leave it in 6 on the highway.

Oh yeah, it's definitely noticeable when you start it and when I'm speeding up it's usually around 2000RPM, will definitely make itself noticeable. Seems to be the perfect blend of a nice V8 rumble when you're on it and being nice and quiet when just cruising

i think some might confuse this as drone. I also have no drone issues

I was in the very same boat as you. The 14 is the perfect tone and loudness. In the beginning it was fairly loud, but it will mellow a little after some time. There is some drone, but i only notice it in the 1500-1700rpm range. Since i have the 3.92 gears, my RPM settles in the range above the drone on the highway. Driving local, i really didnt care how loud it was. When you are cruising in 6th or 8th, you really couldnt tell the difference between the 14 and the factory. Its now been 250 miles since i got mine (just had a 14in magnaflow muffler welded in) and i dont regret it one bit. No matter how much people tell you that when MDS kicks in they cant tell a difference....well dont believe them, It sounds like poo. I almost feel like the 18 would sound too quiet now and glad i didnt get it. Whatever you do, dont fall into the flowmaster mess...magnaflow sounds soo much better (yes i've owned both and flowmasters tend to drone more). Hope this helps.

I vote for the 18". Great sound. Deeper sound at startup and almost quieter. Excellent sound when you accelerate. Drone was minimal.

I purchased the mufflex and wish I just went with the local muffler shop weld in. My rear bracket is completely off center which made the inlet fit at an angle. I have it as tight as is will go and have a slight exhaust leak. I did the seal like all the threads recommended. Also my rear tips are out of alignment.

I don't have a Magnaflow, but I did put on a Flowmaster Super 10 and I think its too quiet. Going to get the resonators cut off this week and hopefully get a tad more volume out of it.

I would go with the DOD14M and don't worry about drone because honestly I don't see how some people with the DOD18M, or even the DOD24M complain about having this horrible drone. If you are used to driving a Prius, then yea probably having the sound of exhaust could be annoying, but to each his own.

Hell, my GF hates loud noises and didn't have one complaint about my exhaust. The only thing I can assure you is that MDS does have a distinguishing tone but it's not that bad, if it bothers you just put it in 6 or 8 (8 speed transmission).
