i've got a 2014 Ram regular cab 4x4 with the nav. factory radio, it;s got USB/SD/CD mounted in the center console. Here's my problem: Both the SD and USB seem to play my music fine but over time it seems to duplicate the songs it recognizes. I know I have 418 songs on the card and the truck shows the number of files growing . For example after a week of use the truck shows 493 files, so I look at the playlist and it has several songs listed numerous times. So if I turn off the shuffle it will play the same song back to back to back them move down the listto the next song in alphabetical order! When I finally got tired of it the truck showed over a thousand files ! This happens with both SD and USB! Anybody have a suggestion as to what I can do?

It's possible you've got more than 493 songs on the SD card and your truck's audio system is trying to index them. Or it is indexing them a couple of times and for some reason it is incorrectly indexing the song two or three times.

I'd suggest you take the SD card out of your truck and put it in an SD/USB adapter and plug it into your computer. Take a look at what's really on that card. Write down the number of files. When you re-insert it in your truck it should start the indexing process all over. It might correct itself. Or you might have to take it to the dealer and have them update the player's software.

My 2015 would take forever to index my SD card. It was so bad that I couldn't use the voice command to play songs. I'd get a response from the UConnect system, "I'm sorry, I'm still indexing your songs". Eventually I took it to the dealer and had them update the software in my system and it worked fine thereafter. Bonus: I got a new female voice that was kind of sexy compared to the old perky, happy female voice.

Sounds good! I've already tried the re-insert trick and it still show at least double the quantity, I've got a recall anyway so I can have them reload the latest software. Thanks!

Hi limechallenger,
We're sorry to hear that your are experiencing difficulty with your radio. If you choose to bring your truck back to the dealer to have this looked into further, you can also let us know by sending us a private message and we'd be happy to offer you any assistance you may need while your truck is being serviced.

I copied my files to a different flash drive and got a warning about a few files that had issues, so i deleted them. I am now using the new drive and it seems to be better, so far! I now show 489 files . One time I hopped in the truck it only recognized 37 files , so I pulled the drive out of the Usb Port and re loaded it and it seems ok for now!

Ok ,so I just got back from a vacation and had to put up with my USB port adding multiple files to playlist , files starting to play then jumping back to the beginning, cutting out all together, and overall frustration with my 2014 Ram reg. cab 4x4 sterio system! I was up in the north woods of Michigans Upper peninsula and had to rely exclusively on my USB and SD card for music while travelling offroad!

So are you guys using USB drives & SD cards that are formatted in FAT32?

If so, do you have both the SD card and USB drive loaded at the same time?

When I had my 2015 both the USB stick and the SD card were FAT32 and both were plugged in at the same time.

OK...the formatting is right. Are the same songs on both the USB and SD?

I'm not the one that had the problem with extreme amounts of songs being listed on the SD card, but to answer your question, yes, there were some songs that were on both SD card and USB stick.

I asked about what was on the cards as I was trying to figure out if it was possible that the USB & SD slots were cross talking. But I don't think that's possible.
