so, i printed out my starcaseXXXXXXXXX thing and off to the dealer i went. The day prior, i called my sisters dealer, and 2 other NY dealers, non of which have ever heard of this or even had a truck in for that problem. Well i got to my dealer and showed him the paper........never heard of it. Ok, well this is what it does, makes a metallic slinky type noise when it shifts under hard acceleration. Ok well take it for a ride. So off they went, and when they returned, of course...............nope diddnt hear anything. OK lemme drive. so i hammered it out of the dealer, and sure as **** 1-2nd it did it and winding out to 3rd. Now, its not a loud or deep sound, and if my radio is turned on level 5 i cant even hear it. but i know its there and it drives me nuts.

Any way we go back to the dealer and the service manager, and there "master tech" tell me its normal, and under accelleration like that its going to make shifting noise, he also said my MDS will make some lifter noise...........you know cause MDS shifts my truck......

Well i told him, ok ill buy ur **** telling me my 30k $ truck is spose to make noise with 1K miles on it on one condidtion, lemme drive 2 other brand new ones. LOL got some bad looks when i hammered a rcsb R/t out of the dealer with less then 10 miles on it. and a black express. and wouldnt you know it they do the same freakn thing. EXACTLY the same sound. So either there lot is full of broken RAMS or im just to **** abou tthe sounds my truck shoul/shouldnt make. Anyway i had him print me out a reciept sayn a sound was heard but was deemed to be normal (drivetrain noise) that way when my trans falls out this spring towing my boat i can go back and shove it up is a$$, "scuse me sir, does that feel normal" ......rant over

there is no way in hell you'd be able to hear it, i can barley hear it, with the windows up, or down. and the radio off and my camera/and fone are a POS. if you were to take a metal slinky stretch it out, and right before your truck shifts let it retract, thats what it sound like.

My new truck does it under hard acceleration and just found out that another member on here his 2012 PW does it as well..

I was also told it was "normal" kinda like the "Hemi Tick" was normal

Had my truck in earlier this week for the torque converter noise. They claim a tech drove it and "didn't hear it"

So of course now I have to schedule another appointment to have the tech go for a drive with me to "hear the noise"

i hear so much about the torque converter i'm surprised it isn't a recall at this point

since reading up on msg boards about the torque converter i'm paranoid and constantly listening to the engine lol.

for now since two other brand new trucks did the same thing and you got the printed papers saying they heard it and said it was normal, i would feed confident that you are covered and that there is nothing wrong

does your PW have the same trans and converter i got, cause if you have a different set up and still making the noise, ill say its normal for the 2012's then

Take it to another dealer!

ive called 3 dealers in NY including one my sis works at. emailed 2 other dealers in NJ, and took my truck to the one i bought it at.

not one dealer has ever heard of the issue, had any trucks in for any converter/trans issues, other than one in NY for a guy with a 2500 cummins, w a leaking rear main seal that was replaced.

Then you're splitting hairs.

I agree with the exhaust idea.... music to your ears.

to be fair to him, he has a brand new truck, I can see why he would be questioning a sound like that

I agree, I would do the same. It took my torque converter a while to start making the rattle noise as described in the Star Case. When I explained it to my dealer I said it sounded like there were jingle bells on my exhaust while I was speeding up. The service manager said "Oh yeah, we have done one of those before, no problem!"

So long story short, my TC was replaced and now...no more rattle noise!

and a new muffler would be good, then at least i wont hear it when it flys out of the truck, but then again, "the decrease in back pressure from you aftermarket muffler cause a failur in your drive train, sorry but your SOL", Warranty VOIDED
