My battery finally gave up on me.

It's actually kind of impressive. The original battery in my 2004 1500 finally has bit the dust.

It was manufactured july 10 2004. I am doing the full suite of winter readiness maintenance to the truck and this battery will still start the truck just fine, but it is showing its age on cold mornings. I think it could make it to its ten year anniversary, but maybe in some other application...

Pretty spectacular for a battery to last so long.

Cool that is one awesome battery. I use an Optima red myself. 6 years old and not even showing any signs of slowing down yet at all. It was stuck in when I had the engine swap.

My best guess is that the longevity was due to driving lots of highway miles. Every time I drive the truck the charging system has plenty of time to maintain the charge level. No short hops to put much strain on it.

9.5 years and 120000 miles later, rest in peace warrior battery lol

I have never seen a battery last that long in a vehicle before, pretty cool. Now, time for a redtop! Lol

I think I would have to jump start it if i needed to for the last 6 months so I could call it 10 years. :rockit:

I just bought my 04 rumble bee a few months ago and it still has the original battery in it. Funny thing is it still runs strong! We had some 20 degree mornings already and it starts no problem. Only has 26k miles on it so im sure that has alot to do with it.
I did throw a pair of jumper cables in it to ease my mind tho. :)

My 2003 original battery lasted right around the 9.5 to 10 year mark as well. I don't have the same level of expectation with my 2014 though. Too many electronics, and fancy crap to put a drain on a battery.

I bought a 2nd gen (99) ram this week as a farm truck, and it still had the original battery and started flawless! I couldn't believe it!
