Good Morning All,
After being able to re-charge my OEM battery twice this winter on my 2021 Ram 1500 Big Horn, it died again this morning. I was able to jump it again with my battery pack, but I'm finally going to replace it. I'm going with the Walmart H7 Platinum AGM, 800CCA. It's all they have in store, and for the $180+tax price and 4-year warranty, it's the best deal. I'm planning on upgrading to the H8 size once my warranty is finished. I've watched the videos on how to change the battery, but I do have a couple of questions though. I have read that you can plug the battery pack into the lighter plug to keep the computer up while changing the battery. This would prevent the computer from needing to be reset or losing its configuration.
1. Do I need to use the battery pack, plugged into the lighter plug to maintain the computer? Is there any risk of losing the configuration if I don't?
2. There are 2 plugs in the truck, - one that turns on with the engine and has a key icon on it, and one that is always on with a battery icon on it. Which one would I plug the battery pack into?
Thanks,
Joe
