chadster, you have some experience with a massive lift. In your opinion do you think if I increase my kit to 8" that I will have problems with front end components?

No you won't have a problem, but after some 40k miles you might need to adjust some things. I don't understand why people assume that if you lift IFS it means, oh my GOD you need to buy lots of ball joints and components. I have had 3 lifted trucks and NEVER had a problem with them and the trucks ranged from 7", 6"+3"bl+spacer+cranked, 16" lift with 40x15.50. Not once did I break anything.

Really the biggest problem that people run into with ball joints its because they dont look at angles. Its all about angles, the more angled the CV shaft is angled the for more stress the front takes.

Best thing to do is look at your shafts and see if they are way outta wack, that could tell you how long your font end is going to last

Someone should start a thread about this. I'd like to learn more about improving suspension angles. Think it could be very helpful. At some point I think I want to add a 6" SL and would like to do it right.

From past builds, and working with some pros on lifts. A lot of people get into trouble when they are trying to get as much lift with piecing stuff together, i.e. SL+BL+spacer or shocks cranked all the way+Add a leaf+block on block in rear.

Which is funny, when i had the ford people would try and burn me for a mall crawler and I look at their build and they pieced the whole truck up to almost 12"...very bad and then I laugh.

It comes down how high you are trying to go and what you are willing to sacrifice in the quality of the truck declining with every add-on. To live in the lifted world you already accept the possibility of breaking stuff much sooner than stock.

Umm I think the ball joint comment was mostly pointing to that extreme offset.
With the 6" sl and front differential drop I'd be willing to bet his cv angles are in great shape. Mine are awesome even with bils at 2.1
But that negative offset is gonna cause some premature wear just like any negative offset will.
