I was just on the official Mopar site and was looking up my vehicle information
on the OTHER tab there is a whole list of information with one line saying

5 additional gallons of gas

does this mean my truck supposedly has the 32 gallon tank?
if so what is the verification method?

thanks in advance

If you had a 32 gallon tank it would say that on the window sticker under "Options". There used to be a part number stamped into the tank itself you could check but you need to crawl under the truck to see the number. I think that statement about the 5 additional gallons means they put 5 gallons of gas in the tank.

Could you run it close to empty and then fill it up? That’ll tell you for sure how much it will hold. I think the other answer is right that it’s a reference to how much gas was included in the tank when you bought it.

Means U R supposed to have 5 gallons of fuel in the tank, LMAO. Now, most dealerships, before U leave the lot they will fill the tank. Everytime I have bought a vehicle I made sure they went and filled the tank on their dime, we pay enuf for these trucks as it is...

RUN your VIN number under equipment listing and it will tell U what size tank U have.

The only issue I have is, the standard "Ram" tank is 23 gallons, most have the 26 gallon tank installed, but all the electronics set up for a 23 gallon tank. WHEN I went to the Dealership on this, they told me, WAIT for it: Run tank to almost empty, so they can drain the rest of the way, then fill up to confirm Tank Size. Now, I have no Turnips in my backyard... This is what FCA wanted dealership to do...U know, sometimes, U just gotta suck it up, cause It is what It is, Just saying, all IMHO.....

As was said, it's just that they put 5 gallons of gas in it. If you're curious about tank size, I would verify that with the build sheet. My build sheets on my last 3 rams have been extremely accurate.

Probably a holdover from back in the day when the destination charge dependent on how far you live from the factory. Dealers close to the factory used to be able to go and pick up new vehicles and drive them back to the dealership.

Like others said. It’s just suppose to have fuel in the tank. Probably to drive off train, trucks etc.

They list everything in or on the vehicle I think. I’m assuming it’s a lawyer thing. They probably got sued over something stupid so now this happens.

Hug your local lawyer
