is slowly falln apart, so as posted. bout 2 weeks ago i replaced my pass side cv axle due to a torn boot from off roading. For the past week ive been feeling an occasional (chatter) and the truck would pull to the left. To me it felt like bad u joints. I jot under the truck today to find Excessive play in the drivers side CV axle were it mates to the male axle shaft on the DIFF. Now, again, As posted earlier my buddies daytona has 80k on it i have 100k, his pass side went out but warped and twised the splines on the axle shaft so he cant even put the new cv joint on.
When i went to remove my drivers side cv joint, the actual axle (smaller cause the diff is off center) pulled out of the diff carrier. WTF, i finaly pulled it out, and no oil came out of the hole. The way the shaft is configured is there is 2 recessess on each side of the axe stuf shaft with a c clip in them. The diff side is thicker, i would think so the cv axle gives out first when pulled. Any way, the problem i got is when i replaced the pass sid ecv joint there is almost no play on the female side of the cv joint mated to the axle shaft. However on the drivers side there is noticeablely more play that the pass side, but no were near the bad on i took off.
So do i have a large (out of spec reman axle) or are my splines worn??
any imput would be helpfull,
sorry for the long post but it seems stuff keeps goin bad all at once
the pic is the stub shaft that ppulled out of the carrier, the dirty side is the outer cv axle side. the clean end is what pulled from the carrier.
