Hi All,

New to the forum. I have a question about tapping into 12 volt power on my 2013 RAM 1500. I am installing a Aif Lift Compressor WirelessOne system. I am having trouble finding 15 amp ignition power to tap into that isn't assocaited with some critical computer component.

The two 12 v sockets in the cab are Power On, but are 20 Amps. I am installing in the cab and thought about tapping into the power with a 15 AMP protected line.

My concern is tapping into something that is critical just to power the compressor.

Anyone have any experience with the 2013 and any suggestions? Thanks, George

use the cif lighter. but i would relay it so it doesnt put any current draw on the vehicles circuit. you use the cig lighter as the trigger to turn on the relay.

You don't want to tap directly into any of the vehicle's circuits, it's too easy to overload and blow fuses that way. Installing a relay with just the trigger wire running off the cigarette lighter is your best option then you can run up to a 30A circuit regardless of what circuit you're tapped into on the vehicle.
