Hey guys just looking for some help on what to look for when buying the 3rd gen 1500's. Im currently looking at a 2006 mega cab with the 5.7 Hemi. Here is the add 2006 dodge ram Laramie - Lloydminster Cars For Sale - Kijiji Lloydminster Canada. please note it is in canada so its kms not miles. Do you guys think its a decent deal? Im sure there is lots of threads just like this so please no hate lol. Thanks

I have no idea what your market is like so I wouldn't have a clue what a good deal is like. My suggestion is to check online dealers and compare prices, mileage and features to figure out what you are comfortable with. There are other members from Canada on. I'm sure someone will chime in.

looks like a pretty clean truck, price is decent. Wish I had bought a megacab when I was doing it. I personally am not a huge fan of a few things about the 06's, but that's mostly aesthetics. I don't know how rare those are around you, but the price of the mega's is very difference depending where you are, I would just check autotrader or cars.com to see what prices are like.

Looks to me though like a pretty good deal, the aftermarket stuff they did is mostly aesthetic stuff which looks nice but its not like they were performance mods which could lead to hard driving, so that's nice you don't have to pay for them. Maintenance stuff looks good, i would see if they have full maintenance history, and ask about the head gasket, i would want to be sure the heads weren't warped or something dumb.

Oh and also, if he went from 20,000 to 16,500, he's probably negotiable on price, so thats good. Maybe start at 14 and see where he goes if everything else checks out.

thanks guys, yeah around me there are very few mega cabs but in alberta (two provinces over from me in manitoba) they are a lot more common.

I was thinking the same thing with all of the mods being more so appearance and not performance.

My thoughts were the same with the 14 offer-ish and see where he goes from there. Also the way he talks about it with just having got a diesel it would just be sitting on his property so he would be motivated to sell just for that fact. Yeah i defiantly want the full maintenance history.

I also really want a mega cab i mean if i find the right truck it won't matter but i have a buddy who has an 06 3500 mega cab and you just cant beat that interior room.

Also its a laramie which is defiantly what i want. Hopefully an albertan with better knowledge of the market around there will add his/her .02 If this was for sale in manitoba i wouldn't even be asking it would be in my driveway lol.

Thanks Guys

Looks like a pretty clean truck, mileage seems good for an 7-8 year old truck. Plus the mega cab is a great extra to have, im kinda looking to trade in my 08 sport for an 08 mega cab

Either way good luck with the deal and let us know if you pull the trigger
