IMO who ever put the wheel on should have tightened it. But the bottom line is it's your truck and your responsibility to have made sure the work was done right. Another example to do it right, do it yourself.

Early this year I took the wife's ride in for it's annual state inspection. They take the wheels off to look at the brakes. When I got home I checked them and found both driver side wheels loose. It is what it is....

I didnt want to read all 23 pages but if ur rims are aluminum theyll contract and expand with the weather. Also they tend to loosen their lugs. I bought a cheap tq wrench from harbor freight and tq mine myself (even do my own work now).

Absolutely, I was torqueing mine to 95 lbs, but recently have gone to 115 lbs. and check them frequently.

Thanks guys , I'm hating myself for not getting them retorqued but guess I have to live and learn... I need other issues taken care of but I think getting this rim and my good tire back on is priority so I don't have to drive with this spare.

On the other note anyone know of a place to get cheap rims? Preferably a stock one to replace what I have

If you look closely you can see the holes are exactly a circle like they should be.

Too bad you aren't near, I have four nice 17" aluminum rims. But you need to post a picture of the rim that you are looking for as ther are a ton of different wheels. Salvage yard, ebay or Dodge Wheels Rims OEM Alloy Steel Wheel Rim

I just had my tires balanced and the tire guy mentioned that he tq'd them to 135 lbs..at the time I just nodded my head cuz I couldn't remember spec. I know over the years they (Dodge) kept raising it.

I agree, it's 135# now, which is just a tad bit more than I like.

Very often what happens with alu wheels is the galvanic corrosion (the white stuff you find) between the wheel hub and the wheel itsself is not cleaned when the guy takes off the wheel. A good indicator is if you have to sledgehammer the wheel off the hub. If a good chunk ends up beween the wheel and the hub and the guy that is tightening them is not paying attention as he tightens (because it is obvious that the wheel is not torquing down properly) he torques to spec (if your lucky) then you drive off and as you drive the vibrations turn that chunk of corrosion into dust and now you have a 1/16 gap between the hub and the wheel. As you continue to drive the wheel nut slack gradually and soon enough you get a vibration and if you keep going you will scrap your studs and eventually lose your wheel.
Sounds alot like what happened here...

There is no way if he said he torqued them to 135 that ALL the lugs on that wheel would be lose. Not a chance in hell. The wheel was forgotten. I would definitely have brought that back to them and not left till i had a new rim/studs and free labour.

Won't they use it against me that I didn't have it retorqued like they said to do?

That's a tough nut if you are dealing with your own shop. What was the original deal? Did you pay for the work or was it off the cuff? If you didn't pay for the work then you really are on your own. If you did pay for the work, then I would talk with the boss and tell him you want to be fair and have them pay for the parts you'll install them. Rear wheel I'm pretty sure you will need to pull the axle to get the old studs out. If they don't do the right thing by you, then take it as a lesson and look for another job... Good luck.. The whole situation sucks..

I paid 681$... Four tires, mounting balancing and a protection plan. Then they told me to come back and get them retorqued .. I didn't and this happened so that's everything
