Cats don't like oil. You may well have a damaged, clogged cat. Blowby is where there is oil vapor being pumped out of the crank case caused by gases "blowing by" the piston rings on the power stroke. On a 03 hemi there is a 3/4" rubber hose from the Oil filler tube to the intake inlet tube. On mine I have a little filter attached to this vent hose and it is not connected to the inlet tube.

The one in the picture is a cheap one from Advance Auto Parts. Jeg's has some nicer ones available.

I use it as an indicator to see if I'm blowing oil from the crankcase. I suppose it might prevent some hot gases from entering the inlet tube. But what you really want it to do is "nothing" which means all is good.

Oh gotcha. So how do you tell if a cat is clogged or bad? My truck is kinda loud has a drone in the cab when I'm driving (besides the Hemi tick haha) could that be a sign?

That can be tough to determine. You might try revving the engine and listening to the exhaust and see if it sounds "choked" or "wheezing". Having popped a manifold gasket could be an indicator there is higher than normal exhaust pressure present. You could cut it out and have a test pipe installed and see if that makes a difference. Clogged up with oil it may not be broken up, so beating on it may not help. But if you are burning a lot of oil you can pretty much bet it is bad. Maybe someone can chime in and give you better ideas on this.

Yeah I should quit driving with a lead foot. But I mean it seems to feel like not much power at certain times if that makes sense... Sometimes you could floor it and it don't get up that fast but other times it will. I just hope I'm not gonna even more problems I'm already needing a steering rack, front pinion seal, tires and shocks.. Plus whatever the issue is with that oil loss

Add to your list to check the valve springs. Whenever a 03 has the "Tic" I would be concerned about the springs especially if there was a power or idle issue. I would make that the top priority as it has the most potential for damage. Actually I wouldn't drive it until the springs are checked.

Also, I wouldn't replace the cat until you get the oil burning stopped as it would be a waste of money.

Thank you I need the luck I love the truck just hate I have so many problems cause I work full time and can't afford it.. Have to take more money on my loan for any repairs... Makes me appreciate my things more when I work hard for them though. Unlike all the high school kids driving around lifted trucks that cost 4 times the amount of mine.. That angers me sometimes some people get everything handed to them and I find it dumb .. Okay sorry the angry rant there haha

Sounds like your axle oil seal is shot on that side.
Its best to do them both at the same time. Because if one is leaking usually the other is not far behind, also you are goin to have to fill it with oil lol
Also dont forget to make sure your breather is not clogged, thats a big reason of why seals pop

Thing is- do you know how the truck was driven, maintained (or not), or treated in its 140k + miles before you married her? Some (or a lot) are not easy on their rides.

And lets consider. You are not sure how long its been 4 QTS low THIS TIME... or last oil change before that.

Even the best engines ever built, run low on oil or run hard, will see trouble sooner.
