I'm sure there's a million threads on this subject but I wanted to ask specifically about my issue, since it seems to be different from everyone else.

I'm talking about the flashing red lightning bolt.

My truck drives just fine, but for some reason about once a week this light will come on in random moments, could be on the freeway going 70 could be on the street going 15. Taking it to my mechanic buddy and I would love to save the guy some time considering he does the work for free. Any idea on what it might be?

So far ive read, Throttle body need cleaning/replaced, or air filter.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thats the electronic throttle control system indicator, it will start to turn on or flash when there is an issue with throttle control when there may be an issue with the throttle body, PCM, pedal position switch ect.

When they start flashing at times such under hard acceleration I've found its been because of a sticking throttle body or worn gears in the actuator. Cleaning the throttle body is a great first step to verify nothing is binding the throttle plate or anything is gummed up in the body where the throttle plate sits.

Otherwise you'll need some more diagnosis preferably with a scan tool to get codes, watch throttle position and voltages.

First off you should try resetting the computer. Take the positive off the battery for about 10 minutes or so then remount it and see what happens. You might just possibly have a bad TPS.
