I'm looking at the BFG Rugged Terrain T/A , Cooper Discoverer AT3 , Michelin
LTX A/T2.

I tow a 20ft boat but also would like to still have decent mpg with good traction when the snow falls.

The stock tires will spin pretty easy even on damp streets, have to put it in 4wd just to keep the tires from spinning from a stop. 20,000 miles on them now.

Thanks.

I don't have experience with the Cooper Discoverer AT3 but I have the Cooper Discoverer ATPs which are similar to the AT3 only sold by Discount Tire. So far I really like the Coopers. They have really good wet traction. I have read only good things about the AT3 and Michelins but have read mixed reviews about the Rugged Terrains.

I'm going to get the Cooper Discoverer AT3s for my stock replacements. I used to run Cooper Cobras back in the day and loved them.

I like the look and the ride of my Cooper A/T3's and the price certainly was right BUT I've only had them on 5 weeks and early indications would tell me I've lost 3 mpg since putting them on. That's a significant drop in mileage for just changing tires. I'm wishing I'd have paid the extra $$ for the Michelin's.

Before I got the ram I had a trailblazer that I bought michelin ltx ms/2 for that worked okay, expensive though. I don't remember how they handled in the snow.

Really?? Did you get the same stock size? Do you know how much heavier the AT3s are than the Goodyears?

Terra Grapplers, and AT3's would be my top picks.

very similar weight which helps with MPG, and good tread life.

hmmmmm....the AT3's tread must be creating a lot more rolling resistance. Dumb question, but did you check to make sure they are inflated up correctly?

Going with Cooper atp. Had them installed today, a lot more meat on them. I can't hear road noise because of the exhaust, might be stock with a little rumble. I don't think the mpg will be worse, I'll find out though.

How much could I ask for the stock tires with 20,000 miles on them? Looks like they're a 50,000 mile tire.

ANY new tire will cost you mpg..How much, well thats another question...I know michelin has a site with 18 wheeler tires roll resistant chart in their sites tool box..Might have a car/truck version..

The STT is a all out mud terrain so that might have something to do with the bad tread life.
