My week old Ram 1500 Classic single cab has a very annoying vibration starting at around 70mph. My whole center fold down arm rest vibrates badly around 70-75mph. I contacted the sales agent and am bringing it back tomorrow. It feels like the rear tires are out of balance.

She said they could test drive it, but I warned her that they won't feel it at 65mph or less. I filmed it vibrating in case they claim it doesn't. I was going 74mph in the video, and my fountain drink with ice is going nuts on a brand new, just opened freeway, so there should be no excuses.

I'll report back what they do or don't do about it.

Have the tires road-force balanced.
I will if they simply cannot fix it, but I'd rather they did, then me pay after just buying it. They may not have that capability, I don't know. My 06 Magnum R/T has always been very sensitive to balance, but I have 22" wheels, so that is part of it. The truck is stock and brand new.

Hi 89grand,

I do regret to hear your sentiments regarding your truck. Please be sure to keep us updated on your dealer's findings. If you are in need of any extra support while addressing this with your dealer, our team is just a PM away.

I took it in yesterday, and the saleswoman I bought the truck from tried to ******** me and say they've heard of this before with one other person and the tires were just flat spotted and it would go away eventually. I told her I wanted it documented now, and checked, because if I wait too long for it to magically fix it self, I would have the truck long enough for them to be able to blame me for it. I also told her flat spotted tires don't stay that way for many hundreds of miles.

They were too busy to check it, so I'm going back Monday morning. We'll see. I'll report back afterward.

You're in Arizona, you're tires aren't flat spotted. Even in the north when it does get cold enough to flat spot over night they're fine in 10 miles as soon as the tires warm up.

Exactly. She was just hoping I'd believe that BS, drive off and later when it was of course still happening, they would say, you've had that truck for over a month. You must had smashed the tires into something, and it's your problem.

I have a 2000 TJ Wrangler with 33" mud tires, and it can sit for well over a month, and has zero flat spotting issues.

You're in Phoenix? If you are just go to Discount tire and invest $40 or so in road force balance your tires and get a print out. If the tires are bad chances are Discount will warranty them and you can get a big $ credit for something better. You have over a dozen Discount Tire shops in Phoenix/Glendale. If the tires aren't bad then it's the dealers problem, chances are they can't road force balance anyway.
It's funny cuz it was the Ram dealer in Lake Havasu that wouldn't address my issue and Discount Tire in Kingman that fixed it. Flat spots were 40 years ago with rayon and polyester tires.

Yeah I mentioned getting an independent test, aka Discount Tire. Oddly Bill Luke does have a road force machine, so they say. If they **** me around on Monday, I'll go to Discount Tire, in fact there is one within less than a mile from the dealership.

I'd prefer the dealer just took care of it, but if they don't or won't, Discount is my next move. The whole flat spot excuse is utter ******** and they know it. They were just hoping to drag me on longer while doing nothing so that it could be considered my fault. I know too much about cars to fall for obvious lies.

After 6 long hours at the dealer, they found 3 of the tires failed the road force test and replaced them. The truck feels a lot better after only a short stint on the highway. Those Goodyear SR-A's suck. Of course I still have those, but I'll run them until they die, then gladly get them off.

My truck always shook at 60-70 mph with the SR-A tires. Road force balanced helped but never solved it entirely. I have Cooper AT3 4s' on it now and the ride is smooth.

I've noticed the new Rams don't have the SR-As on them anymore.

Thank you for following up to share this update! I do apologize for how long you had to wait at the dealer, however I am glad to hear that the truck feels a lot better. Should you experience any questions or concerns down the road, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Seems like the Goodyear SR-A tires have a reputation here for not giving a smooth ride. So glad mine got warrantied in the first 100 miles and Discount Tire gave me the option of getting something different.

The SRA's have a reputation for sucking in multiple dimensions. Mine did okay-ish as far as vibration and ride, but I bought the truck used and the tires had barely 15k of life left on them, so my expectations were kind of low for 'em in the first place.

I knew for certain that the SRA's sucked though when I found a, no-kidding, way better ride from the new Falken Wildpeaks, in spite of the Wildpeaks' way more aggressive tread.

It is still doing it, just not as bad as before. I'll probably have to eat it, and have different tires installed.
