Ball joint not sitting flush

Hi there,
2016 ram 1500
I got a new ball joint for my mevotech front lower control arm. I have pressed it in and it sits way too high. About a quarter inch is between the control arm and where the clip sits. I have attached photos. I double checked and they are the right ball joints. Any advice?

With the experience that I have with the Mevotech control arms and lower ball joints it appears that you have installed the lower ball joints for the aluminum version of the control arm because they have a much thicker boss than your steel lower control arm.

From the looks of your picture I believe you have the Mevotech CMS25149 and CMS25150 lower control arms. That ball joints looks like the one that goes in the CMS251150 lower control arm.

that makes a lot of sense! Unfortunately now I cannot find any ball joint to fit the steel arm. It seems they only sell those ones. Many thanks for your help figuring it out!
