Hey guys. Hoping to bounce some ideas off ya. I am doing a new build for my 5.7. My goal is 550 rwhp. It's going to be a e85 build with a compression of 13.5:1. So far I have a molnar 4340 stroker crank. Molnar h-beam rods. Carrillo pistons that are 12:1, but I am putting 4th gen eagle heads decked to get my 13.5:1. A custom cam by baker engineering. At 30 over I am looking at about a 398ci. Here are some questions. 1. Do I have to increase size of injectors and if so what size. 2. Are vera ram intakes worth it on the eagle heads. 3. How much would I benefit from 87mm throttle body. Any input would be appreciated, especially if someone on here has done an e85 build.

I’m not running e85 but I am using SRT4 stage one injectors with my 392. They flow about 55lbs at 58 psi. But I don’t know if e85 needs a different type on injector, that’s all new to me

E 85 requires 30-40% more fuel then gasoline, which is why I believe bigger injectors are needed.

You'd want the stage 2 SRT-4 injectors with a 398cuin which are a 65lb/hr, they should be in the 60-65% injector pulse/duty cycle so lots of room to expand if you ever want to. The Stage 1 injectors would be around 90% with e85 which is getting chancey for durability of the injector. I've looked at e85 many times for my build but it's not at the pump for me so I'd be hauling drums of fuel around which I really don't want to do.

Vararam is a good intake for 4th gens but the hemi-under-glass for the 3rd gen was not a good intake. If you can find a BFI intake just pay whatever they're asking, it's the best one ever made for the 3rd gens. You're better off with the 4th gen truck intake manifold, a 6.1L manifold w/ the alternator/compressor spacers, or the new Edelbrock manifold to match to the Eagle heads. The OCP manifold is another option but it should only really be used if you're running into clearance issues. I ran a 6.1L manifold on my Eagle heads at 11.4CR.

An 87mm ported TB won't do much for ya; with your engine size I'd go to a true-bore 84/85mm, you're going to be moving enough air to take advantage of the volume without the loss of low torque a normal stroke 5.7L would have.

In for the updates! By the way I will say 550 rwhp will be tough for a 398 CI if ur staying NA. I’m interested to see how she does though. My 420ci with 11.6 compression, ported eagle heads, ported 6.1, big cam, made 485rwhp.
