I ran across this video on facebook. Very eye opening. https://www.facebook.com/reel/799835129737642
There's a few horror stories floating around about the way warrenty claims are being handled. The best one was the guy with the brand new Hellcat, that Chrysler did everything in their power to deny warrenty on the engine, last i heard it was in the courts as the guy had hired a lawyer

I don’t have a fb account anymore and can’t read the story. What’s the cliffsnotes version of this?
Big ^ss fight with warrenty company to get a bad Mopar crate engine replacement engine replaced. The replacement crate engine bought from a Mopar dealer knocked as bad as the engine that was replaced, and the hoops the shop had to go through to get another replacement engine, will peel your eyeballs open.

FYI, you can watch it without an account. I don't have a facebook account either. When I clicked on it the FB login window appeared, I just clicked the X, the login window disappeared and the video played in my browser. That is definitely bullcrap from Chrysler.

So on that v6 I wonder if it’s ok to take pic’s of the heat tabs with a colonoscopy camera. lol. Sounds like someone got a new hellcat engine at that shop. And they just pressure washed his old one.

Reminds me of my ordeal, though not as bad to some degree.

I bought a 2011 F150 used with 55K miles. I had a 30 day limited warranty. 2 months later at 60K, I needed a new engine. $7500 and about 1.5 months later, I had a new engine. That engine lasted about a month before it started knocking pretty badly. Take in, NEED A NEW ENGINE AGAIN! This time under warranty, but still another 1.5 months of waiting and no rental car covered. Told my wife that if we buy used again, getting at least a one year warranty.

@suicideking, do you know what the deal was on the new engine?

Other than the knocking that was getting worse every day, not really sure. Whatever it was, they didn't even want to fix it. My first call from them after dropping it off was, "sorry, we need to replace that engine."

It was the V8 5.0.

Worst part was I had the 30 day warranty. I wanted to take it for an oil change the first week, but they said it just had an oil change. My wife convinced me not to 'waste the money', which would've saved us the $7500. So an expensive lesson learned in buying a used auto.

If I buy used again:
1. 100% going to take it to a mechanic for inspection the week.
2. Will plan to buy a reputable warranty for at least 3 years.
