New Exhaust on my 01 5.2

I had a 2000 1500 with the 5.2, and honestly I don't know what the exhaust set up was. It was on the truck when I purchased it. I'm going to purchase a 01 with the 5.2, and I don't like the current exhaust that it currently has. It has a dual set up with chrome 3" tips. I'm wanting to go back to a single set up, but don't know exactly what I want. I have been thinking of going with a cherry bomb, to a 3" pipe all the way back. I'm going to straight pipe it, since the state I live in doesn't check emissions.

Any ideas lads?

If by straight pipe you mean delete the cat i don't suggest it. 02s don't really like that and fuel mileage tends to go down. Better off with a high flow.

If you want loud and proud look at Carven R Series, Spintech 9000, or the Cherry Bomb Extreme/Flowmaster 10 (both are the same). I would highly suggest good quality shorty headers if you want a quality sound though and some extra giddy up.

Well I'm not just doing an exhaust change. I'm going to run a cold air, and run a superchips tuner as well. I'm not looking to sink more than like $400 into the exhaust, so doing a new cat is probably out of the question.

Honestly I would leave the stocker in then. They actually flow pretty well compared to your typical catalytic converter, to the point that a high flow really isn't much more.

You can save a good chunk of change by skipping cold air and just using a drop in cotton filter. Same result for about the 1/3 the price of a cheapo spectre. If you're stuck on the idea of an intake, I suggest Volant or DIY Ram Air.

Unless you find a superchips for cheap, you're better off saving money on the filter kit by drop in or DIY and spending the extra on the better Edge programmer. Tunes are better and it allows you to monitor things like trans temp. Superchips is junk for anything over $100
