I'm seriously thinking about replacing the 8.4 in my '16 Laramie. It's the Alpine with navigation. I was looking at Crutchfield and found a deck that interests me. I can get all the installation stuff and they'll even wire the wiring harness for me so I don't have to do it. My question is, will the beepers and whatnot for the park assist still work after?

If you change it out...
Please pm me if you wanna sell the 8.4. I’ve been looking for one.

I've been researching for my 2010, looks like you would want a head unit that is compatible with idatalink/maestro, then get the corresponding modules. With the 2010, you can get back pretty much all vehicle specific functionality. There was info on Crutchfield that gave different options.

If you get the idatalink maestro and a head unit compatible with it, you will retain every factory function, including custom settings menus and hvac controls that were in your 8.4. The only thing you can’t keep are the factory mics.

I've never messed with any of that. How much is it? Does it only work with specific radios?

I kinda looked at this on Crutchfield. Am I right in seeing it only works with certain decks and certain amps? I don't want to redo my entire system just to change a deck. I've already done that and have two grand into it. My wife would shoot me if I did it again lol

Certain decks- yes. Amps- no, that’s a function of the head unit itself on whether or not they have the rca outs you need. Here’s a list of some compatible radios- https://maestro.idatalink.com/compatible-radios. Basically, most name brand radios nowadays are compatible, unless it’s the bottom of the barrel model. Just pick a radio on crutchfield that interests you, and click on their installation parts needed link, and see if the maestro is an interface offered.
