There wasn't really an "everybody else", just one other person. I drive a 1.5 hour (each way) commute daily so I have a diesel Jetta that gets me about 38-45 mpg. I really save my Hemi for hauling, hunting and fun. My diesel is a 2011 so I haven't had any problems with it yet. The oil change is every 10K miles which is nice. I'm curious why you wouldn't drive a 2500 diesel daily?
