Hello,
I have been off and on this site periodically for a long time but never registered. I'm done modifying my car and I'm moving on to my RAM. Its a 2003 5.7 Quad Cab Laramie/SLT 1500 2wd. Just wanted to introduce myself as I am sure I will have more questions soon.

I really haven't had any major issues with the truck, just turned 150k on it. The only real issue I had was the dreaded small fuel leak that everyone gets from the ridiculous NDLV under the truck. Took me forever to clean up all those hose connections and once replaced my CEL has been gone. I have seen 17mph while towing my car before but now the best I can seem to muster is 14 or so highway average. I plan on replacing the front o2 sensor in hopes that will correct the issue. I have cleaned out the TB multiple times, mostly due to sticking on take off. This issue also use to force the truck into limp mode when in cruise control but cleaning it solved that.

I have had it since 100k and about 5-6 years, I don't recall when I bought it. The previous owner installed SRT wheels on it (curb rash from his GF was free). The only things I have added were used craigslist specials, bed cover already painted, K&N intake, and Superchips flashpaq which I use the 87 octane tune. I do have upgraded audio it in but no subwoofers etc. Recently I fixed all of the curb rash, installed larger tires, and plastidipped them anthracite. Came out a lot better then expected.

So I am looking to do some mods which I am already researching. I am not looking to have the fastest truck nor straight line performance, etc, but some performance. I am definitely retrofitting the headlights. I have experience with doing this from my other car and previous cars so it looks ridiculously easy to do on my RAM. Additionally I am looking for a way to level the truck out. There is a RAM the same body syle as mine on base that is level, but it wasn't raised in the front to level it out. The rear was lowered a little bit. I am not looking to drop my truck unless it is only 1 inch in the front, I want to be able to clear curbs. So basically I am researching how to lower the rear further without losing towing capacity because I tow my car periodically. I also am looking for a bolt on exhaust system. I don't need to wake the neighbors from 3 streets over (already have the vehicle for that), but I do want to get some more sound out of the truck. I prefer it to be full bolt on headers back but I haven't seen a system that everyone recommends. I plan on going to video clips later to hear what people have installed but I don't wish to do any welding for the installation. It seems pacesetter long tubes are the recommended header though but I don't see a way to install them without welding. I need to keep a CAT on the truck as well due to inspections. I think this sums up my questions for now and I will be doing more research on the forums.

I don't have a ton of photos of it since it is a truck but it is in pretty damn good condition (it does need a rear bumper pained since my wife found a yellow pole in a parking lot). This photo is pretty old. Larger tires and refinished wheels now.

Nice looking truck sir!

As for lowering the rear, about the only safe option (IMO) is a set of shackles, which while they claim 2" drop, typically net little more than 1". Only other option I know if is flipping the front spring hangers, and I'm not actually sure if that works on 3rd Gens. Avoid lowering blocks at all costs, they'll ruin your leafs, especially when towing.

I don't know of anyone who makes a headers backs setup for the Rams, but you can quite easily piece it together. Gibson makes a nice quiet yet 'there' exhaust, I'm sure they have an setup for the 3G Rams. This sit is pretty heavy on Magnaflows (I run one m'self) and not to many negative remarks. If you're going headers and a high flow cat, I'd go with a 22" Magnaflow or similar to keep the sound down and the flow up.

When you go to retrofit your headlights, hit up the forum sponsor RetroShop, he can hook you up with the parts and friendly advice (He's a TRS vendor).

I've been doing business with TRS for a while now, that Viper has TSX projectors in it.

Definitely wish there was a full bolt on exhaust header back. Not sure I want to run high flow cats. I had a late 90s Silverado with gibson side exhaust, that thing was definitely pretty loud, but not so loud that it was unbearable. My truck makes some noise now when its running so I am not positive the exhaust is stock, but I am pretty certain it is.

After I typed the thread I actually started checking out Moe's page. Shackles are on my to do list. I definitely won't flip the axle, I'm not a fan of doing that.

Nice truck! And nice viper! I have always loved vipers.

Agree with the shackles part for lowering. A lot of forum members have done it and it looks good.

I don't know if he's on this forum but he's on another I'm apart of. He has some engine kids including:a cam and big valve heads w/ a 6.1 manifold.

I want that sound but I don't intend on doing those mods. I have a fast vehicle. Basically I want a deep rumble from the Ram. I listened to the videos in the exhaust section and this one stood out.
