I have a 09 1500 with single in/dual out factory exhaust. Is there a direct replacement muffler? one I can cut the old out and weld in the new? Would I be gaining anything beneficial or just a waste of my time?

You'll pick up a couple, nothing your going to notice. I'm running a Mufflex delete with a reso delete. So basically I'm running strait pipes out of my cats. My truck has never ran better than it does now.
Check out my build in members trucks. There's a you tube link of the sound.

A muffler change out will change the sound more than anything, but it's one more complimentary mod which can all add up.
I LOVE the sound of our truck at startup and at WOT now :party36:

I was wondering about the sound when the truck is on eco mode or at low rpm on highway.

My sierra had a terrible vibration sound between 100 kmh and 115 kmh.

How does it sound on eco mode ?

Not that good..I do not have a muffler, but I have heard them on others. I am staying stock for that very reason.

It's not that bad. Kinda sounds like a weaker Subaru boxer engine. I think it's worth it.

When I had no tune to turn off the mds I had long tubes and a magnaflow 14" with no resonators and when it would kick in you could hear it but it was not the annoying kind of sound that you can't deal with

hmmm , I was thinkinh of tossing in the 50 series flowmaster. From what you guys are saying though is I wont notice anything other than noise? I was looking at hopefully gaining something in the low end. Seeing as I tow.

You won't gain low end by swapping in a muffler, just top end restriction.

I have the true dual set up with an 18" Magnaflow and when the MDS kicks in it sounds like crap. I manually put it in 8th gear and it turns off the MDS in the city. Highway I don't really hear it when it kicks in. I have always gone with Magnaflows. I had a 14" on my 09 and it sounded great. Just the muffler swap on that one. As for performance gains...a free flow muffler will definitely help with performance if used with other mods such as ported throttle body, CAI or a tuner.

Nope. Just noise. In some applications the Flowmasters actually lost down low. Not saying that's true on a Ram, but others.

Buy it for the sound you like. If your looking for more performance, your better off looking at a higher end cat back. Even then, it's just a small part of a bigger picture.

Don't drink the Kool-Aid that some push on you. If you want some performance from just exhaust, it'll cost you.

I have one of the best on my car, and even the manufacturer stated I would only see a 15 hp and 18 tq at the Flywheel without any additional mods.

That's maybe 8 and 12 to the wheels.

Every car/truck reacts differently, but don't expect any large increases on the exhaust alone.

Magnaflow!!!! I was always a big fan of flowmaster until my supercharger tore it apart. The pressure of the supercharger broke the welds of the bracket and made it run like **** because of back pressure. Ohh man! What a difference with my new Magnaflow muffler.

The stock muffler is a heavy beast designed to out last your rust warranty, but not really designed for good flow. Will you see huge improvement with a direct flow? No, you already have 390 HP. A 10% increase would be hard to detect, and short of long tube headers, exhaust ain't gonna get close.

That being said, you can up the "look at me I got a cool truck" factor and the "hear me, fear me" factor by adding a better flowing, better sounding muffler. And it will perhaps increase flow when combined with some other mods like a ported throttle body and CAI.

The catalytic converters will keep you from losing low end with a better flowing muffler, but you're not going to gain a lot of low end.

Mufflex is a DIY bolt-on direct replacement in 14, 18 and 24" or muffler delete pipe options. It's all stainless so your not getting cheap aluminized crap like the muffler shops try and use.

See Moe's Performance in the preferred vendors for details---> .
