Hello all,

This is my first post (I'll make in intro at a later bit with a photo ***** session) and I just had a few questions.

Truck is a 2015 CCSB Ram Sport with Hemi

1. What are the real world gains of a HF tune?
2. Is there a sensor on the truck somewhere for the headlights I have to worry about when lowering my truck? (I have auto headlights)... I searched and can't find anything on this one. The reason I ask is my last car (2013 Golf R) had auto headlights and had a sensor on the rear of the car that sensed how level the vehicle was to adjust how high/low to point the lights
3. Manufacturer claims aside is there a proven gain on intake and TB? (aside from noise) I know S&B and aFe are commonly suggested, but is anybody actually running the MOPAR intake?

Thanks in advance guys.

Congrats on the truck.

The gains from your tune are also dependent on the supporting mods. Couldn't give you a horsepower figure, but it's generally agreed that a tuner/custom tune are the best bank for the buck mod. Also, there are other CMRs than HF... do some research.

"Auto" headlights on these trucks just refers them coming on or off at a certain light level, and also when you have your high beams on, they'll automatically shut off when it senses on coming light. That sensor is in your rear view mirror, so I don't think lowering will be an issue. They or not auto aiming.

If you're looking for an actual dyno chart comparing stock vs. intake or TB, I don't think you'll find one. Everyone is always happy with their results tho. "Best" one for these trucks is supposed to be the air grabber, some guys combo that with an 87mm TB.

Congrats lowering won't effect you auto headlights. And the intake/tune I don't have either but everyone (and there is a lot of them) swear by the hemi fever tune my suggestion is to wait till you have the rest of you supporting mods exhaust intake what ever your plans are for and then get it, you'll get the most out of it that way. They can retune it for your mod as you get them but I believe there is a fee on that Im sure someone with more experience will chime in on that.

From everything I've read on here, the Vararam Air Grabber seems to be the best intake and does put up some numbers. Second to that a lot of people recommend the S&B. I have a Vararam sitting in a box right now, hope to get it on this weekend. I also want to add Moe's 87MM TB down the road when money permits me too, along with a HF tune.

Here are some numbers that Matt posted a while back. It's comparing the Air Grabber to another aftermarket intake, which they see about 16HP peak gain.

EDIT: By the way congrats on the Sport CCSB. Can't go wrong :)

The Hemifever tuning is showing 30-35hp/tq to the rear wheels. The only downside is that tuning is not available for the 2015 models yet. After speaking with Diablo last week, it looks like it could be a while as well before tuning will be ready for your truck.

And intake and throttle body will give you roughly 20hp to the wheels without tuning.

As for lowering the truck, no worries there with the headlights. Just realign them after the lowering kit goes in, and you are good to go.

Any proof of a wider TB actually working? I can't see any way it can do ANYTHING when after the TB is only 82mm (I measured for S&G)

The opening to your intake manifold is 82.5mm wide. Our ported throttle body is 87mm in front of the blade and then tapers down to 83mm on the back side. The larger bore brings in more air which is where the power gains come from, and then that taper from 87mm to 83mm creates an increase in airspeed which is what gives the boost in throttle response.

If you were to run a true bore 85mm or 90mm throttle body, then you would need to port your intake manifold opening to match.

Stock trucks only gain about 8hp from a throttle body, but truck with full boltons and tuning are seeing anywhere from 13-16hp/tq. We even had an SRT8 Jeep show an 18hp increase from this mod (He already longtubes and a tuner when the TB was installed)

Welcome aboard.
Every mod is just a piece of a puzzle. They are cumulative in gain; the only piece that will show definitive gains by itself is a tuner.

Okay guys thanks for the help.

Has anybody made their sport hood functional with the vararam intake?

I think I remember seeing someone try to make the hood functional, but you have potential water issues, plus I remember seeing that the current inlet for the Vararam is way larger than the two scoops on the sport hood.

I too have a sport hood I would like to say is functional, but we need to just enjoy the look :)

On a side note, Long ago I had a Toyota Celica with factory hood scoop. Wasn't tied to the intake but it did funnel air down the back of the engine along the header. At least it was semi functional.

Impossible. The vararam grabs air from behind the front grille.
If you want a functional sport hood, grab an aftermarket unit that is designed to dump the hood's vents into a CAI. I can't recall who makes it.

You lack ingenuity. It's not impossible at all. You could just extend the "tray" that comes on the vararam to where the vents are... And make something to close them in case it rains.

If you look at the underside of the sport hood, the scoop openings are so small that they would not do you any good, even if you were to modify the Vararam airbox to open up to the bottom of the scoops. The Vararam is already pulling air directly from the front grille, so that is the same cool air that you would be getting from the scoop, only with Vararam's design, you will be getting a lot more than what the scoops would have to offer..
