Hello all,
I just pulled the trigger on a 2021 1500 Classic Warlock 4x4 crew cab, short bed with the 5.7L HEMI, the 8 spd transmission with the 3:92 rear end. I live in Canada, where, as most of you know, we see a lot of snow and ice. Come fall I will want to get a set of wheels and tires for winter. I am looking for suggestions on not only tire brands, but tire and wheel sizes as well. The truck is coming with 275 60R 20's. Thank you all.

Congratulations on the new truck. when I was driving my truck on upstate New York near the Canadian border with all the salt, I just bought a pair of cheap steel rims and through snows on them. No sense spending a lot of money on a rim package that's just going to get pitted and rusted from the salt. Then I just kept my regular tires on my good rims for once the salt was done for the year. Good luck, and enjoy the ride

They stopped salting here a while back. They just use sand.

Hello all. I am a little surprised this didn't get more traction, pun intended. Am I in the right forum? Is there another forum I could post in to get a few more responses?

I’ve been running Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV and size of 275/65R18. It’s pretty hard to beat these tires for ice and snow. You can get them studded or not.

if you visit your local Kal Tire in Ottawa they can give you a great selection of rims, from cheap to expensive. I’ve run these tires on my 2014 Sport 1500 and now on my 2019 Limited. I was studded on my 2014, but hated the extra road noise on pavement so now I’m not studded. Great tires.

I would also suggest you check kijiji and Facebook marketplace for a used set. They will pop up this spring, and then in the fall.

There's tons of threads on here for recommendations for tires.

Falken Wildpeaks
Nitto Terra Grappler G2's
Toyo ATIII's
Coopers are popular.

All depends on your budget.

Snow tires specifically, Nokian or Blizzaks

Thank you for all the replies.

I have the opportunity to get a good deal on a set of 4 Blizzak DM-V2's. The shop where I get my tires has suggested 265/70/17. OEM is 275/70/20. What are peoples thoughts on moving from 22" to the 17" and the slightly shorter sidewall?

I am not sure what you asking…..
20-17 or 22-17? You mention both

I went from 22 to 18” on a Ram 1500. 21 longhorn with no issues. A 17 would definitely NOT fit on that model Ram. (5th gen)

On my earlier 2017 4th gen I went from 20” to 17” again no issues.

I see you are from Canada. I thought I would mention as I also live in Snowland, Northern Wisconsin, that when I had my 17” on the 4th gen I could not get any chains to fit because of clearances issues. Never needed them tho.

We have blizzarks on my wife’s cars and I like them.

You have the OEM size wrong. 265/70/20's are 35 inch tires. Stock tires on these trucks are in the 32 or 33 inch range, depending on trim level. Your stock tire size is 275/60/20, based on ramtrucks.com. so the 265/70/17's are still about a half inch bigger in diameter than your stock 20's. Here's what I would do...find a good tire size calculator, I use this one...
Use that to compare whichever tire you want to use with your stock size you want to use.

General rule of thumb for snow tires is the narrower the better. Wheel diameter has nothing to do with that other than the fact that you can get narrower tires in 17 inch than you can in 20 inch.

He has a Warlock, which is a Ram 1500 Classic. They work with 17 inch wheels just fine.

Yeah, I think he was typing with fat fingers. There's more than one thing wrong with what he was asking about.
