Well, got my truck in October 31 '19.... stealership...
27k on it then, 31k now.
Brake pedal on first push goes down maybe half way, but I pump once it goes to 1/4...
I haven't taken this in for it's 30k checkup but it dont really need anything major...

I guess I should check them myself... does that brake fluid level look right???8644e668c37d95fbc8d2440f7d693635.jpgabd58c4f06a39328c4383a2ae2c82dc2.jpg

The level looks OK from what I can see. There should be a full line on the fluid reservoir.

As far as pads going in 30K I'm not surprised.

Fluid level looks fine. I have 30,000 on my 2017. My brake pedal was spongy. Bled the fluid and it helped quite a bit. I also did stainless steel braided brake lines which helped too. I’m also running 35s which are heavy but my truck feels like it stops like brand new. My pads look lightly worn. Not even 1/4 worn

If I only got 30,000 miles out of a set of reputable brake pads either somebody drives with their foot on the brake, the calipers are stuck, or it has been used for nascar races every sunday.
My ford 150 transit I had for work burned through the rear pads with no warning. 40,000 miles. Ended up needing new pads, rotors, calipers, and axle seals.

Miles don't really tell the whole story. 30k on a vehicle in metro area such as DC, NY or LA is a world away from 30k in rural Iowa or SC. And towing or hauling versus driving empty bed will impact the mechanicals of a vehicle. I have found that I am the only true analog for if something is amiss with tires, brakes, etc. Of course asking for advice here really helps, I have solved a number of problems with great assistance from this forum. Just have to not be too overwhelmed on consumables and length of use compared to others. As they say, " mileage may vary". Good luck on getting your brakes back to good.

Well, I have not yet actually visually checked my pad life, I was just wondering why I was pumping for that second better brake.
So, if it's NOT due to wear, then my lines might have some flex in them or something...

TIME to check is what I need right now... THNX for the replies so far.

I'm at 28.5k and hoping I'm only 1/2 through my stock pads or less. I've heard folks say 65K or much more in some cases. Just a stock truck with standard wheels, and I'm easy on it. When I had it in at 27K for a new gas filler neck, on the multi-point inspection they checked green on brakes and tire wear. I'm assuming they actually looked at them, of course

Being that you bought the truck used there's no telling how hard it was driven. At least if you change them out yourself you'll have a good starting point for the next time.

Almost 49K on my 2018 and still look newish. But I'm in rural and mostly highway driving rarely stuck in traffic.

yeah, previous owner put 26K on it in only 18 physical months of ownership... (I forgot to record the driving hours when I got it... stupid ass me) now he and I are in STL MO and how he put 26k on it I'm not sure...

I got 90k on the factory brakes before replacing them. I went with ceramic pads to keep them from rusting as my truck can sit for a week or two at a time while I am driving company cars.

I had 72k on my 2016 1500 when I traded it in for my 2500. I towed my camper, plowed, and whatever else needed to be done. I had a lot of highway miles, probably 10,000 miles towing on the highway, which doesn't require a whole lot of braking. The brakes were getting worn when I traded it in but not to the wear tabs.
I'd be inclined to check the fluid itself and braking components while looking at the pads.

Sounds like a hydraulic issue, not a pad issue.

YEAH, it might be... I need to find a trusted Stealership... I've had relations with 2 in the past 17 years...(both my past 2 Rams I took them to where I bought them) they always go from good to sour in no time!!!

If it is a "stealership", then don't go there... find a dealership to do the repairs as necessary.

As for the brake fluid level, is it up to the "full" line?
