Hello fellow Ram Owners! After my white european died on the side of the road, I went out and bought my very first BRAND NEW vehicle... A 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Express!!!

I've had it for a week now and couldn't be happier... well more money to afford all the stuff I want to do to it... that would make me happier.

Some things I'm looking at doing to it include:
• Tint Windows
• Spray-In Bed Liner
• Amp and Sub
• 2/3 Drop Kit - maybe

I'm know there are others but these are the top priorities for now.

I'll spend many hours on these forums researching and deciding what, exactly, I want to do to it. So, to all of those that have or will contribute around here... your help is/will be appreciated.

Welcome to RF!

So far I have tint, spray in liner, and Amp & sub.
contimplating a 2/4 drop.

I'd say you sir have good tastes. You will also want some retrofitted headlights.

Welcome aboard!
Hope the mod bug doesn't bite you TOO hard LOL

I just hope it doesn't bite as hard a the Harley mod bug. Fighting that urge is painful. Lol.

I've already considered some new headlights, but I'll have to do some research on that first... I seem to be extra picky about my lights. Although, I research everything anyways.

I'm going to get the windows tinted today. So I can mark off one item on the list. I'm also thinking about swinging by the local Leonard's store and grabbing some in channel vent visors. I'm not a smoker, but I used to be and I still always have my window cracked for some reason or another... habit I guess.

To everyone... thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully doing some show and tell, money pending.

Funny stuff right there... I have the in channel visors too. They work awesome and don't whistle on the highway like my 2G Ram did.

There are no good (IMO) aftermarket headlights for these trucks. JJ does a spot on job with a conversion to projectors and HIDs. I, along with quite a few site members are VERY satisfied with his product and his customer service.

You better get an exhaust too...

Exhaust is a must!... but it as well as the spray on bed liner will be future projects. When I owned my last v8 full size truck, my parents owned a muffler store franchise. A K&N drop-in filter and Vortex true dual, custom exhaust were near immediate add-ons. Shortly followed by a pair of Hedman headers. Best part of all... everything was at his (my Dad's) part cost and there was no labor.

I've gotten two quotes for the liner; one was 400 and the other was 475. I got the last one via email and sent a reply that it was more than I was looking to spend right now. The guy replied back with 25 off for that day only. Sadly, I was hoping for 225 LESS than his price (250). Guess that was just wishful thinking. I did ask for another quote from a third company, via their website, but its been 3 or 4 days and I haven't heard back from them.

I did get the windows tinted today. I opted for the visor strip at the top of the windshield (it's legal here) and I've got mixed feelings about it. I'm not sure if its just that it's there and I'm not used to it or if its the way it was cut. They cut it in an arc. It may follow the exterior line (didn't look) but it doesn't follow the line of the headliner. Kind of nit picky, so it might just be that I'm not used to it. Guess I'll find out.

The tint shop I went to is also a car audio shop. Spending 1.5 hours sitting around 'looking' really fired up the car audio bug. It was already starting to nibble, as I've been starting to do some prelim. research. Since returning from the tint shop, I've been hard at it. I'm thinking of two different directions and I'm considering starting another thread for some advice. If I do, I'll add the link.

As for the visors, since I got the windows tinted and I can't roll down my windows for a few days, I decided to wait on them. I didn't want to tease my self with something I couldn't put on. I drive by the place I want to get them from at least twice a day, five times a week. So, once the windows go down, the visors will go up. Although, now that I think about it, I should stop by the next time I go by because my luck, they'll have to order them. Too bad I didn't think about that this afternoon.

By the way... I can get wordy. Thanks for hanging in there.

Yea as far as the pricing on the bed liner goes...you're gonna be looking at around $475/$500 for any reputable spray in liner like Line-X or Rhino. I was quoted somewhere around $530 on some spray in liner I'd never heard of. Fortunately that was just me asking at the shop I use to do my other mods so I was asking more out of curiosity than actually wanting to get it done there.

So then I went to my local Line-X dealer and they quoted me $475 and the Rhino dealer quoted me almost the same price. So I went with Line-X and couldn't be happier. All said and done it was $500 flat with taxes and everything. They did a great job, it only took 2 hours, and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

So even though it's more than you wanted to pay, I would highly recommend the Line-X if you have the cash to set aside for it.

The 475 was from Line-X. The 400 was from Leonard's.

I'll get it done... hopefully, sooner than later.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ahh, ok gotcha. Sounds like at least Line-X has uniform quotes across the country then. And anytime, glad to offer any advice I can!
