Thinking about buying a new ram, Trading a 2021 Big Horn Hemi that listed for 53K truck is paid off, for a 2025 Big Horn Night with the 3.0 Hurricane that list for 63K. I can trade for 21K include taxes and title and license. Quite a bit more expensive truck plus the 10yr warranty. seems like good deal to me, thoughts?

The 10 year warranty is tempting but not sure it's worth it to trade a paid off 2021 for a 2025 especially if you haven't had any issues with your 2021 truck. There's a lot of other things you can do with 21 grand besides buy a new truck that isn't a significant upgrade over what you already have. What does the 2025 do that your 2021 doesn't do? I just bought a new 2025 RAM 1500 Bighorn but only because my 2010 Tundra needed about $5000+ in repairs but otherwise I'd still be driving it because it was paid for.

keep your paid off 21 your downgrading the hurricane engines will NOT hold value in the long run others will disagree but they will be suprised in a few years lol. For example look what happened to the Eco diesel trucks engines didnt hold up and they are worthless now i predict a similar outcome.

Yeah, I would keep the 21 myself but different strokes for different folks. It’s your money.

A paid-off Hemi truck is a LOT more valuable in My view than one only 4 years newer, especially with that Hurricane.

You can do what you want; however, my advice--save your money.

After a few electrical problems and a split hose from the 6.7 HO turbo I traded my 2022 3500 Limited for a 2025 Laramie that I really liked. The dealer I use, Christopher's Dodge in Golden traded for it with the dealer who had just gotten it onto their lot. Very loaded with the only thing I wouldn't have ordered was a sunroof. But no big deal. I really like the power and the economy of the HO 6.7L and the 8 speed. Now I find out Ram is coming out with an even higher torque Cummins and a 10 speed. I'll wait to see if there are any early production bugs and then see if I can find a way to buy one. If you like it and can afford it, do what makes you smile. Life is short, and like Al Stewart says in Ghostly Horses of the Plains; we will never pass this way, again.

Got a scare from my new Biggy 2500 this am. It was 5° and I was driving my Amish neighbors kids to school. As soon as I started the truck to head back my check engine light came on. The truck' got 8k miles on it so the first thing I did was check the gas cap. That wasn't it. I drove the 2.5 miles back home keeping watch on my gauges. When I got back I put my code scanner on it and it turned out to be my air shutters were frozen. I didn't know I had air shutters but I'm glad it was a simple fix!

I had a 2021 with the hemi and loved it but it was paid off and I can afford a 2025 so I got the same truck I have but the new hurricane motor coming up on a year and no problems

Thanks, cold here at 8,550 feet, just below zero. Don't know if I have shutters but I'm heading outside to work on firewood, so I'll take a look.

And even if it did apply, as I've learned recently, it's a power train warranty. The bumper-to-bumper warranty is still 3/36.
^^^ THIS ^^^ Important distinction !!!!!!

I'd also figure in some engine repairs over the years. A Hemi naturally aspirated will serve you better than the reworked Fiat motor with 2 turbochargers and 36 miles of hoses and wiring harness to make it work. Now if they brought back the 225 slant six you might be OK.

I've never really looked into the new 6-cylinder engine with its twin turbos. Is it really another Fiat engine. I understand the other diesel engine, used in the 1500s was a Fiat nightmare as well. I had experience with one in a little Dart I bought for commuting, it was called multi air, and it was junk. I traded it with only 6,000 miles after constant times in the shop, once to replace a head. Thank God for warranties on junk.

The Huricane was designed here and built in Mexico like a lot of Hemis. It is found in some Jeep models where it was first introduced. I'm not aware of it being used in and Fiat or Stellantis product.
