New truck advise

It does suck when you know more about the truck than the salesperson. I had a similar experience where the guy was telling me stuff I knew wasn't true. You expect these guys to be experts on what they're selling, but really they're just blowing you full of hot air.

I have the air suspension and I've had to go into the shop a couple times to get computer adjustments for them. I would NOT recommend them to anyone that doesn't tow. Not worth the potential headache.
Yes that seem to be the norm on my Google search, multiple trips to fix it. Cant remember what the person did at the end or the dealer to fix it.

37k with rambox, sounds like you were driving a tradesman/express. I think the sports are a bit more money than that.

My express, hemi, 8spd crew cab with no other options aside from 20s and backup camera stickered out around 39,750.
I overlooked that trim, I only focused on the Sport with the painted grill on ramtrucks.com, but it must have been that one. I was more interested on the inside as most of you guys mentioned it have more than enough space.
And it does.

You have to do your own research. Very important. The salesman could not give a rats a** about your desire to own the right truck for you. All they know is that it has a Hemi.

I am really into trucks. I knew a ton of stuff about the f150, silverado, Ram and Tundra (ew, not the titan, however the titan 5.0 cummins sounds siiiiick). I test drove all the major trucks. I walked into a Ram dealer, found the truck I wanted, immediately talked numbers. I was confident in what I wanted. I new my must haves based on previous truck experiences. The sales man didn't need to do sh*t. Cut them out the best you can. I was lucky, I went during ram "truck month" and got 8k off sticker in incentives. Wicked.

I was looking for the air suspension for myself. I couldn't find one. However, the 4 link coil rear end is very comfortable of a ride. My friend, in his 13' f150 fx4 is very jealous of my Ram. My truck is stronger, faster than his 302, more comfortable by far. If you cannot find the air ride, don't let it get you down. Just stick to your handful of "must haves."
Thank for the tip wont forget about it, Im just impress as my coworker worked for honda and GM and he knows about the vehicles so I got the wrong impression that they ALL know whats under the body work.


grey is nice. i'd have got grey but i already have a grey car. matt black is also very sexy and quite rare(i couldn't find 1) but that takes paint maintenance to a completely different level of hell so i wouldn't suggest it but if you can find 1 test drive it for fun

nearly every major manufacture offers this in some vehicles now. he may be referring to the fact that the engine was actually built with it in mind. i'm not sure on the other brands but when the tech started catching on many just converted their existing engines so there were issues

results vary but on the hemi it's about 10% better fuel economy but also fully depends how you drive since if you're heavy on the throttle or doing a lot of city driving it'll hardly ever engage

ram box is mainly useful for storing things you might not want in the cab like tools or things that are dirty or even simply reducing clutter. personally i don't have it since i don't like the way it looks but i carry around many different ball mounts and ratchet straps along with random tools and emergency things like portable air compressor and booster cables so the ram box would be good for keeping that stuff out of the way but the cab also has plenty of storage and i haven't had any storage related complaints yet

as for air suspension yeah you wouldn't really need it. it'll make the ride a bit better and it has different levels one of which can help fuel economy. it's also great for towing or if you have a heavy load in the bed. my opinion is that for what you plan to use the truck for the extra cost isn't really worth what you'd be gaining
I like the idea of air suspension especially from factory that way it be under warranty also the fact that it will lower it some more for when the kid can get in and out and that would help the wife as well as she is on the short side.
I could forget about the ramboxes and put that for the air suspension.

You already determined the salesman is product ignorant. Mine was as well. Mine commented several times how much he learned from me.

So wouldn't listen to him when he says you do or don't need something. They need to sell what they have in stock.

He might be right if talking rear only air susp on 2500. The 1500 is four corner air. It does offer better ride, better fuel economy with its Aero mode at higher speeds, auto leveling, safety because it drops slightly at higher speeds, offering lower center of gravity, convenience of entry with entry/exit mode, and off road modes that raise above normal height. Had zero problems, the technology is proven. Just in case, I bought extended warranty. I play with settings everyday. I like changing the personality of the truck. It was a must have for me. I was impressed they offered it. Most German SUVs offer air suspension in their premium and sport versions. Great for high speed cruising. I recommend looking for a dealer who has one to test. Rule it in or out that way.

Those are good points about the air ride. Is looking better and better if I have to choose air over the boxes.

forgot to mention cant believe my mother was like a Dodge why dont you better look into a Ford. Well she have a explorer and my dad a used ranger, that not a truck lol.

She kept commenting about this dodge car this relative had was nothing but issues this and that, so I came back with well you know they said the ford taurus is just as good or bad than that one. And then she realized was she was saying.
Point is pretty much all the brands have a model that just plain suck that dont mean they all do.
Also she was like the ford is more truck lol cant quite understand that one.

Bottom line Ram twice truck of the year havent look what was the criteria.
And the style is amazing.
Im sold, now waiting for a job interview as I might end up moving and that would be it, plus all the tips from this thread are going to help me.

I use the heck out of my ramboxes already. Thought I'd just store tools in there. Several occasions I find myself just loading up stuff I bought in there. Fast and quick. Just the other I day I went and bought oil and stuff, and just felt natural to pop the rambox and dump everything in there and go.

If you don't need to tow, but do lots of short trips, the 1500 crew cab 3.6 sounds like the ticket.
I'd say go Ecodiesel if you didnt do lots of short trips, and didn't see if you got cold winter where you live. I may have opted for it, if it were available when we bought.
