So I've had my truck for about 3 weeks now...the headlights are the biggest downfall. we had a tornado-producing storm here the other night and i was driving through it to get home...couldn't see a lick. had to pull over even! i dont know if i have duals, quads, what. but i need to do something quick. now i know from my previous experience on imports that guys that drop HID's into a honda civic are NOT getting great light with the scattered patterns since the lights were designed for halogen. i would assume my lights are the same? since they're designed for halogen as well? Don't have much money anymore so im looking for options that arent multiple hundred dollars

If they are projector housings you can upgrade them to HID. The ones in my Laramie have that style and I think the lighting is pretty decent, at least so far.

If you don't already have projectors, you do not want to add HID or you will be that jerk with the blinding lights. If you have the projectors then you will need bulbs, ballasts and a relay so they don't flicker. You will have improved output for sure but not ideal. You would need to do a retrofit to be more BMW-like. Check out the RetroShop for ideas and advice. He seems to know his stuff.

You could try to hit up a junk yard and get some ram projectors or acura/BMW/Mercedes/lexus projectors and ballasts and Frankenstein it together. Anything you do is going to cost at least $100, probably closer to $300 and half a day.

If you have the Quad headlights and $ is an issue, you could upgrade the bulb to Silverstars Ultras, PIAA Xtreme White, or Phillips Xtreme Visions. Would be a minor upgrade, but expense would be minimum.

Other options would be adding aux lights (light bar, etc...), HIDs, LED's, or adapting higher wattage bulbs to fit your housings. Stay away from the cheap HID setups.

I have left the EOM quad headlights as-is, but added aux lights. You wouldn't need to do anything as involved as I undertook.

apparently i'm one of those "jerks" with HID's in non-projector lenses. The light output is great with a quality HID kit, and I have very minimal scatter. I am VERY happy with the way they look, and I never get any complaints from people about me blinding them, whether it be on the road or if I am following friends or family.

I used a MaxLux Canbus HID Kit, no relay necessary, works great, i'm about 18 months into having it installed in my 2013.

found pictures of your truck you had posted. you have the quad headlights. i started off with the quads and found i HAD to run my fog lights on to feel like i could even see the road. first i tried silverstar bulbs, helped a little bit but not much. i ended up swapping out to the projector style headlight shown above with the factory bulbs and it was so much better then the original quad headlights...and with the HID drop in kit in the projector they are beyond awesome.

you could try hids in the quad lights which would be much cheaper, some people get away with it, i never tried so i cant comment on the light output...i just felt HID's really need a projector style headlight with the beam cutoff to not blind oncoming traffic.

If you get HIDs, and you should, be sure to get the CANBUS ballasts..... plug and play, and no worries....

don't waste $50 on Silverstars.... not worth it. A wuality HID system is well worth it.

I had less people flashing me with HID'S in my duals than I do now with my projectors. I'd throw them in OP. IMO I'd rather see well all the time and have some people flash me than not being able to see well with the ****** stock bulbs. I've been there where I couldn't see at all during a bad rain storm (Next day I ordered HIDS from retroshop). Not fun!

I have non projector headlights and i upgraded them to LEDs. I love the headlight output now. The only issue i had with them was during the last storm with the street lights i couldnt see the road. I dont think its the headlights fault because i also slightly tinted them after i installed the LEDs. But they are still better than stock halogens. I dont have any pics on my phone as i got a new one. But the thread titles LED headlights or something has all my pics.

I am running quads and HID's, and I have them aimed properly and havent had a complaint against them since I installed them. Great output, long as you get the right ballast and you wont have to worry about flicker as well. No halogen bulb will compare.
