So I'm working with a new truck, 2015 White Reg Cab Express 2WD w/3.92 rear gears vs the old 2014 Charcoal Grey Reg Cab Express 2wd w/3.21 rear gears.
This time around I want to change up the lowering plan vs my old Belltech 2/4 drop w/Bilstein 5125 shocks and Spohn adjustable bars.
I will say this, when the Spohn joints were tight they performed well, they just didn't stay tight for very long. When loose I could feel the alignment slightly off and the noise was unacceptable.
First thing I did on the 2015 was change some cosmetic things, added spray in bed liner and a MOPAR tonneau cover. The paint on the MOPAR tonneau was noticeably different than the factory paint (less gloss), had it repainted, matches much better now.
I have a few other parts on order: 22" Hellcat repro wheels (satin black), gloss black painted non towing side mirrors (to blend with dark window tint) and some white color matched door handles. Going to install a Kicker Solo Baric L7 10" sub with some old school Pioneer TSD 6.5" components using JBL amps.
And Lastly, started collecting parts for the new drop plan. Been doing alot of reading and it appears there are many more options than we had just a few years back.
Only things I'm re-using from the old drop project are the Hellwig front and rear sway bars (the rear being a 2500 bar much larger than the standard 1500 bar), they performed flawlessly, and the dude that did my alignment.
After much contemplation, the goal is to be in the 3/5 to 3.5/5.5 range.
For the rear I'll be using the Illicit no cut brackets with a 4" drop spring trimmed to desired height; most likely will end up removing the metal bumpstop cups.
For the front I'll be using a combination of McGaughys 2" drop spindles and a 1" drop spring ran as is and/or trimmed for desired look, again, most likely will end up removing the metal bump-stop cups.
For supporting bits I'll be running an adjustable panhard bar and maybe a set of adjustable upper rear control arms, if needed, for fine tuning pinion angle.
Currently undecided on shocks but I was extremely happy with the Bilstein 5125's so I may go that route again. I'll need some feedback on shock lengths used for a 3/5 4/6 drop vs the 2/4 variety.
Thanks, look forward to some cool modding!
