do the 6" rcx and set bilsteins at 1.4" and it will sit level pretty much..I would put them at 2.1" or 2.8" and add a 1.5" rear coil spacer. That setup will clear 37s. (Would look even better with the 1.25" body lift on though) I'd go with a wider wheel and offset though

How do I explain this to the guy at the shop who will be doing the install? Does everything in the RCX 6" suspension lift kit need to be installed and then replace the front shocks with the Bilstein adjustable shocks?

I don't understand the 1.5" real coil spacer comment. It was my understanding that all I would need was the 6" RCX lift kit and 37's would fit without any rubbing as long as the backspace on the wheels was 5.5".

Please advise.

A few pics after I washed her. I'm about to order the new wheels & tires. What did you guys do with the stock wheels/tires. These will have less thatn 1k miles on em.

Man, your truck will look sweet after the lift!
It reminds me of mine :naughty:

I still have my stocks but will be selling them locally.

You can probably get $900-$1200 depending on condition, where you post it and who buys it

Jake nailed it.
I set mine to 2.1 and required a 1" rear coil spacer and I have a 0.5" rake.
1.5" coil spacer will give you approx 1" of rake.

How do I explain this to the guy at the shop who will be doing the install? Does everything in the RCX 6" suspension lift kit need to be installed and then replace the front shocks with the Bilstein adjustable shocks?

Replied to your PM regarding this.
Short answer of what I sent you is, the Bilstein will replace your factory shock. The clip on the Bilsteins is what sets your height of them.
Pretty straight forward.
Some shops still lack the knowledge of Bilsteins.
Mine, did and I had to slap them silly and they did what I said, and not they are carrying Bilsteins and promoting it. :killer:

The 6" RCX kit will eliminate only 1" of your rake. You need to know your rake prior to lift to know what to set your bilsteins at.
If you have a 2.75" rake (which seems to be the avg. here). Bilsteins set to 1.4 will give you a slight rake of 0.3" which to the naked eye, looks damn leveled.

People like Jake, myself and others get rear coil spacers (that go above your rear coils) to raise the rear to take full advantage of the Bilsteins and to get a lift higher than 6".
But going higher than 1.4" on the Bilstein will give you a nose high/squat/cali lean that many don't like.
This is where the rear coil spacer comes into play

Hope this helps and is clear.

I just went to 4wheelparts and they guy told me I would need an additional 3" body lift in addition to the RCX 6" suspension lift in order to fit 37's on. He said it would be really tight and I would have some rubbing.

I then called rough country and the guy said the 37's would be fine with just their 6" suspension lift as long as I got the wheel backspacing correct. He told me to use +12 offset on a 20x9 wheel.

What do you guys think, I really don't want to lift the truck an add'l 3 inches but I also really want the 37's.

That guy does not know what he is talking about....

You will clear 37's easily on just the 6" lift alone. Add the Bilsteins and you are laughing. Add the Body Lift and you will wish you got 38's.....LOL

+12 offset would be cutting it close. I would personally do a 0 offset or lower, like -12 offset.
But 0 offset at the minimum on a 20x9 and your wheels will stick out 1.5" which on a lift, looks pretty good

:naughty:

Thanks so much for all your help. I currently have a 3" rake (39.75 rear, 36.75 front). Since the RCX kit will eliminate 1" of the rake, I should set the bilsteins to 2.0 to eliminate the rake completely, correct?

As long as the 6" RCX kit along with the bilsteins will be tall enough for the 37" tires and not look too stuffed, I will just go that route and forego the coil spacer.

I plan on getting this done in short order and will post up pics when its done.

I honestly would set the Bilsteins to 1.4 if you are not putting a rear coil spacer. You may potentially have a squat setting it to 2.1

Or, set it to 2.1 and if you have a slight squat and are ok with it, then leave it.
Its easier to throw a coil spacer in then re adjust your Bilsteins.

Really, are those pretty tough? I'm not very mechanically inclined but I showed my dad the installation instructions and he felt we could do it. I'll let you know how it goes.

The time will vary based on knowledge and ability to do this.
It took another member over 7 hours for his installer to do it :Wedgie:

I got the pocket style flares. The wheels were the Fuel Kranks 20x9 with +1 offset (based on your reccomendation). The tires were the 37x12.5x20 Nitto Trail Grapplers.

Thanks so much for your help.

Really, I was thinking they would stick out an inch or two and fit nicely under the flares. +1 offset was the lowest option available for those wheels.

Stock 20x9 are around 5.75" backspacing and yours are 5" bs so will stick out about .75" further. And adding a 12.50 will make it stick out about 1.5" or so all together compared to stock..Those flares add about 2.5" of coverage

I have 20x10 with -12 and the pocket flares would make mine tuck under still
