Nfab nerf bar install question

What have you guys been doing about the plastic stone guard rear of the front wheel well? Cutting the plastic to keep the nerfbar high and tight? or installing the nerf bar at a comfortable level below the guard? How bad would it look if I cut a piece of it off to fit the nerf bar high and tight?

I took those plastic pieces off a long time ago...thats what I did

You would think Dodge would have finished the bottom of that quarter panel or made the wheel lining go all the way down. I am cutting one to match the contour of the nerf bars now. I will see what I keep tomorrow hopefully!
