First time trying to put into 4wd since I bought it. I tried several times with no luck.
I used my bluedriver to scan it. Came back with two codes one had to do with the humidity thing on the window and the other one is u0147. Does this code have to do with the 4wd? This is my first ram.
Thanks Scott

That code appears to be a lost communication code. I would guess, no, it's not related to 4x4. What happens when you push the button for 4HI? Does it blink and fail to go into 4WD? Any noises?

When I start the truck all the lights blink on the drive cluster. 2 wd neutral 4 auto 4 hi 4low . When I press any one of them nothing happens the 2wd just stays on steady no blink or anything. Did it with it running in park in neutral. Did the same with it off in the run position. Same results. The truck is very clean I got with 60k on it , no rust or any corrosion I can see. Any ideas

You need to do some of the very basic checking and diagnostic stuff before you ask for help. You can't fix anything sitting at your computer.

There are a lot of potential causes but if you go from simple and free, usually you can find the problem. Check the fuse. If the fuse is good, pull switch and see if there is power to the connectors. Proceed from there.

I'm not sure if that code could be related or not. It is a loss of communication code with a module, so could indicate that the buttons are not communicating with the module. Or an issue with items such as the ABS may default the system into not engaging 4wd. I would start out with clearing the code and see if it comes back. If you clear the code, it does not return, and the 4wd still does not work then it doesn't have anything to do with it.
As already stated, do some basic checks. Look at the fuses first. Do a visual inspection of the wiring.

I figured it out.
I while ago I had an air freshener hanging above the switch and the alcohol from it peeled the paint on the dash . So I put an overlay on the dash which goes around the drive switch cluster. So the overlay is just slightly pressing the 2wd button which doesn't allow it to go into a different mood. I lifted it overlay up a bit and boom I can go into 4wd. Thanks for the responses.

Yes of course I did basic checks first. Fuses wires I could see was underneath look at connections and wires. Before this truck I had a 97 Chevy k1500 6.5L turbo diesel with over 300K miles which kept me busy with repairs for the 20+ years I owned it.

Glad you figured it out. Self inflicted wounds are very common. This is just one more example of why it's a good idea to include a pic or two when asking for help. Someone might have noticed the overlay is in contact with the 2WD button from the pic you posted after you figured it out.
