Good luck finding a dealer who'll do it for you, none of them around here would even discuss it. The ****** at the one I bought the truck from suggested I drive to a Canadian dealer .

I ended up going with an OBDGenie which is really the expensive way to go these days, $129, but it is super easy to use.

As others have suggested AlfaOBD, is the way to go.
Yea, when I went in and asked about it, the service writer gave me the deer in the headlights look.

My problem with AlfaOBD is I am really a tech dummy and I read some reviews that people had issues where they really screwed up their truck and had to be towed to the dealer. Not many like that, but I could see a possible nightmare scenerio knowing my luck with that kind of stuff. If something went wrong, I would be completely lost.

there are 3 codes, you must only pick one

The three codes are LMK, LM1 and LM5

Go to the "dealerconnect" (or something like that) website. He went into the BCM and then to a screen called "add sales code" or (something like that) and entered my VIN. The left side of the screen populated with a list of possible sales codes for my VIN. About two dozen sales codes altogether.

This seems to be the DRL related sales code breakdown:

LMK is for the quad headlight style, That will enable the high beam lamp (at reduced brightness) to be the DRL.

LM5 is for projector style with LED park lights. The LED park lights will be the DRL.

LM1 is for another style that will use the low beam lamps (at reduced brightness) for DRL.

there is more, but any tech should be able to figure it out.

================================
This may be even more helpful

Awesome info, thanks! According to the link, it looks like the code I need is LM5 since the guy in the op had a truck basically like mine, a '15 Laramie. In defense of my small town dealer they really tried, but could not find the right code. I will go in on Monday and see if they tried the LM5 code. Thanks again, this forum rocks!

Thanks. I will check with my dealer first and see what they say. If they are useless, I will go to plan B, the Alpha OBD and Youtube.
watch. you only have 3 years on me and I was nervous too but you will laugh at yourself when finished

I just picked up a super clean '15 Limited 1500 that is pretty much loaded with everything. I noticed it does not have DRL's. It appears to have the same headlights my '16 Longhorn 2500 has which had amber DRL's.

I looked through the owners manual and don't see it mentioned anywhere, even as an option. Odd, because our 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit had LED DRL's and it was a year older. Am I missing something? Is there a hard to find way to turn them on or does this just not have them?
I did DIY DRL on my ‘14 Sport. I folded a small piece of cardboard and put a Velcro loop inside it. Put the piece on top of the sensor front/center. My light switch is set to AUTO, the lights have all been converted to LEDs.
I see so many folks driving at night with only DRL on, imho, it false security.

Dealer says not available on my truck. Did Ram Really make a different wiring loom for US trucks?
My dealer, not a small one at that simply says it’s not possible…go figure!

any of the Rams since at least 2009 can be set to have DRLs
many of the Dealerships just don't want to mess with it

My dealership told me that only Canadian Vehicles had the DRLs, what they should have said was all the computers are identical, but Canada Requires by Law that vehicles have to have DRLs, so they are programmed to work.

Dealers in the USA just don't want to spend 10 minutes resetting ours

I took a print out of the above pdf to my dealer. The service guy laughed and said most folks come in requesting to turn off DRLs in their new car. I was the first person wanting to actually enable it. He said the service guy got it up and running in a few minutes following the instructions. No charge.

Did they turn on the option in settings to turn them off by checking the box? If that option wasn't available I probably wouldn't have activated them.

After reading all the BS that the dealerships put out & my own experience with my dealer.

I just took a wide mouth Coors aluminum bottle cap & placed it over the Ambient Light Sensor on the dashboard near the windshield & set my headlight switch to Auto

When i am working, the Law reads that my headlights must be On, so i just leave them On all the time

I asked them to turn the DRLs on. My drive to and from work is on a road that sees lots of accidents. I wanted them on to make my truck as visible as possible. I also think it's pretty neat that I may be the only RAM with DRLs here in town.

I’m not sure about with the other guy but in my 18, there wasn’t an option to turn them off like other older year-model trucks for some reason but oh well, I figured if I wanted them bad enough to go to the trouble to have a dealer add them then why would I need an option to turn them off and on at will?

My Limited is also an 18 and for it to be on the infotainment settings, the option has to be turned on. I used AlphaOBD to turn on the menu option and the lights themselves.
