I have a 2022 Limited Longhorn 5.7 with 508 miles. E-t0rque is not on . I have gone into the Favorite's menu and click on Start/stop nothing. I have pushed the A circle button below the 4 wheel drive selector . I have tried with the light on and off . Nothing. What am I missing.

NOT a techie like so many here.

My 21 Longhorn Limited defaults to the e-torque which commonly, but not always, shuts the engine down at stops.

In HOT areas, mine won't shut down. True for both my Ram e-torque and also my Grand Cherokee. The system wants the engine running to maintain AC temp setting. Likely an issue in Temecula, as I recall it gets plenty hot there. Same as me in NV.

Also, some stops, regardless of outside weather, e-torque will NOT kick in. My guess is how the truck was braked to a stop. I think the truck senses a very brief stop or something along those lines.

Maybe turn OFF your AC / auto temp control and see if engine shuts down at stops.

Likely a techie or two will weigh in with a better answer.

Just so you're aware, pushing the "A circle button" turns stop/start off. Pushing it a second time turns it back on. There should be a light (LED) on the button, which when illuminated indicates the system is disabled, and stop/start will not occur. Exceptions for this on '21 models, like mine, where the LED never illuminates. I believe they fixed this for '22 models though.

I got a device called “auto start stop eliminator”. It takes about 3 minutes to install, it plugs in line between the factory harness and the security module. It makes it so the switch stays in whatever mode you leave it in, even through restarts.
fyi, I think etorque is still active when auto start stop is off, it still provides the additional torque during starts and smooths out the transmission shifts.

I love my autostop eliminator! :waytogo:

You're correct, all other aspects of the etorque system are still active. The only thing the switch turns off is the actual stop/start operation.

If your wondering why the engine isn't shutting down at stop signs, it may be due to: HVAC demands, battery charge level, engine temperatures just to list some of the conditions that keep the engine from shutting down at intersections.

On the dash if you toggle through your options such as speed, trip, etc. If your truck cabin is not at correct temp (what you have it set at) it should tell you on the dash it's not aviable due to temp in truck.

Exactly.

Also, theoretically we are on battery power from 0-7. I don't understand why RPM's increase when staying in that range...traffic conditions.

It's not a speed thing. The generator/motor only provides assistance for the first half tire rotation from stopped. After that it's all on the engine.

You do realize that the eTorque "motor" drives the crank of the engine, the rpms are picked up by the crank and cam sensors. The days of a spark/coil driven tachometer was gone long ago, about the time distributor caps disappeared.

Or you can watch any of the many videos available on the web. This one features the product specialist for Ram, and does a great job of explaining how it works...

I have the same on a 2020 Genesis G70, if the moons are not in align then the idle stop n go does not engage, same on my 2022 RAM etorque.
So the question I ask myself, why do the car manufactures install them ? ..... I'm not looking for an answer...

I am at a bit of a loss as to how the e-torque is not on. E-torque is an option that includes many functions and cannot be disabled. Are you talking about the start/stop function?

This hot situation has no bearing on the system in my 2022 Ram. it is not working, and has not for for several weeks. I can drive it at night with ambient temps of 15C and it still does not work. The info center in front of the steering wheel gives a message that stop/start not available due to heating cooling. I can drive around with all systems off, including A/C, the radio, and only daytime running lights and it still won’t work even when my cabin temperature is the same as the outside temp.
So something in this system is flawed and it seems to me Stellantis has scammed the regulators with false info on fuel savings in this system because it worked at all temps and with all systems on until I got a warranty software update. Another Boeing type scandal in deception.

hopefully they will figure it out soon

a time is coming that you will not be able to buy a HEMI, that does not come with E-Torque

.....................................................................................

I have been curious about the E-Torque

How the heck do you add the HEAVY E-Torque unit to the weight of a vehicle, then expect to save that extra fuel used in a single rotation of the tire after a street stop

It's worse than that for some of us. A time is coming that you will not be able to buy anything with an internal combustion engine (unless it burns hydrogen). That's what happens when you put crazy people in charge of things I guess.
