I have a 96 dodge ram 1500 with the 360, the exhaust is rusted off about a foot past the cat. converter. I took it to a local exhaust shop, and with me on limited funds, and him looking at what I had he wants to use the old pipe, and run it from where it rusted off, to in front of the rear tire, he didn't say anything about a muffler, just said straight up 75$...

Would this add any back pressure? Surely the cat adds enough, and I know it should quite it down some as its not directly under the cab but more towards the rear tire, out the side.

Good idea?

It should sound pretty good and you shouldn't have to worry about back pressure.

Considering his exhaust is nonexistent anyway, I don't think it will be bad. lol

Won't be terribly loud, I've had mine straight piped before, and a cat will tone it down somewhat.
