Location is Pewamo MI. i am looking at a 96 2500 V10 as a winter beater for this year and a summer project (paint is hideous). it is a 4x4 with automatic transmission, heavy duty tow rig. RCLB. front end is completely rebuilt and only has 182k on the clock. for 2200 bucks I figure I can get him down to 1900 and cant beat it. Not sure if the design is decals, or paint but if it's paint I figure I'll strip it and paint it red, ditch the grandpa boards or some nice chrome or black step bars, tow mirrors, MBRP 4" exhaust, clean up the wheels and run 33's or 35's. Probably pull all of the wood grain junk out and paint it red to match the exterior. and last but not least lose that ridiculous rear bumper. Gas gauge and temp gauge do not work. Ideas? probably just a sensor somewhere. I guess for a while I'll just time it on the trip meter how many miles I have left before I sit on the side of the road waiting for gas. I understand gas milage is going to be 8-10 on a good day, but what mods can I do to up the MPG a little bit? Cold air intake? programmer/chip?

Welcome to RamForum. I think ~$2k would be a fair price for a truck in that condition.
Clearly it has some rust issues, which really kill the value of a truck.

I think your MPG expectations might be optimistic honestly.
I've heard on forums people getting more like 5-6 MPG.

That being said, I think it'd be a fun truck to play with!
