Hello everyone,

Quick intro to my vehicle:
1997 5.2L V8 magnum with an automatic transmission (46RE)

I noticed after using my truck in 4H that I was not able to accelerate while in reverse gear.

On flat ground when I shift to reverse (I audibly and physically feel the gear catch) and my truck immediately begins to push backwards. However when I press the gas pedal my RPMs rise with no power given.

Any guesses? Transmission fluid oddly smells burnt. Bought a new filter and plan to do an fluid swap. Has anyone had this problem before?

Sounds like reverse is trying to go out in transmission. Had mine do the same thing when I got stuck in mud hole and stomped on it in 4 high trying to rock it out. Probably looking at a trans rebuild.
