O PSI oil Pressure. HELP!!!!!

I have a 2008 Ram 4.7 flex. I have ran full synthetic religiously from day one. Truck now has 78,000 miles. Not a problem until now. I can start my truck and the oil pressure gauge does not move and the warning light comes on. If I turn the key off and back on real fast with the truck running the gauge will come up to normal and stay normal for the rest of the day. Please help. The warranty just expired back in December and now this starts.

Could be an issue with just the sensor triggering the light.

I had the same problem with my 03. I replace the sending unit and fixed.

Best bet?

Get a mechanical test gauge for the oil pressure and check it. This will give you a definitive answer, immediately, about the presence of oil pressure.

2nd best bet?

Replace the sensor and see what happens. They do go bad. It's only a few bucks (~$10, IIRC).

my dads truck has been doing that for 3 years now, i told him replace the sensor but he wont, he just restart the truck and it goes away...

I have the same problem too, the way Im looking at it is least its not totally broken and can wait till its warm out for me to fix it
