I was close. 2011 with 54000 miles in VT. Sat alot in the first few winters outside. This year I started getting weird check engine lights and things going on electrically. Battery load tested close to fine but I suspected the battery and was right. Replaced and it cleared up all the problems.

I was amazed it lasted 9 years

Went 10 yrs and 4 months (75,000 miles) on the original battery. Once i noticed that it was starting slower than normal it lasted 1 more day. Replaced it with an Interstate AGM battery. I was very surprised to get 10 yrs out of a battery, especially OEM.

Have a friend of mine who has a 09' ram 1500 quad cab with the 5.7 V8. He has 80K on it and still has the original battery in it. He lives in PA so the truck sees all climates. That's got to be a record.

New batteries are made with recycled lead. I do not know how many years it has been this way, but nowadays, I find it increasingly difficult to have these regular batteries last more than about 2 years... and I DON'T mean failures to start the car and run, I DO mean phantom issues like notchy performance that shows no DTC's or any glaring bad data on a scanner. I chased my tail on a 2011 Fusion for one of my customers because her fuel mileage dropped 10mpg for no apparent reason, yet it ran perfectly and all fuel management data was normal. After a year of rutzafrutzing over it on and off, it's battery died. Replaced it with an AGM battery, and WHAM! The fuel mileage shot up 10 mpg. She also commented the trans shifting became noticeably smoother.

Nowadays, at least on my own vehicles, I replace a regular battery at 30 months regardless... and up fit it to AGM. I'm at 3 years on one AGM with zero issues. My customers are all happier with their AGM's as well.

I finally bit the bullet and replaced the battery on my ‘11 (purchased December ‘10) with 64000 miles. 9+years was pretty good, especially up here in the snow belt! (Although you wouldn’t know it this year! We typically get about 140” of snow, this year about 55”!!)

I dont care about mileage myself, I've had battery failures basically by time, year four of any battery I start shopping then replace as year 5 arrives, not worth going on vacation and having it die.

My 2002 4.7L had two battery replacements each at 6 years like clockwork. 2nd battery was Walmart. The 2013 3.6L not as good, about 4 years, still chugging on the Walmart replacement.

My 2004 RAM with 4.7 made it to 88 K on original battery. Replaced with two Yellow top AGM batteries. Had to remove the OEM air intake and add a battery box rack on the right side and run some 2/0 cables and hook it all up. Here in KY we have all types of weather, but the AGMs have lasted to 175000 plus and still going strong.

Original batteries in my 97 CTD lasted 6 years. The NAPA Orbitals that I replaced them with, just died last month (17 years). BUT,it sits on Battery Tenders (1 per battery) most of the time. I don't drive it much. A few times a year to get firewood.

My 2016 Hemi has failed to crank the engine twice this winter even with the truck plugged in....about 20K miles. It was mega cold and after the weather warmed up it started. Once the temp drops to -15C you can hear that the engine is cranking slower than normal. Running Synthetic oil too. I think the stock battery is basically borderline strong enough for cranking the hemi in very cold temps. I would look at a stronger aftermarket battery rather than a stock battery.

I work at a dealer and Mopar just changed manufacturer of batteries.
We have around 600 units.
I average about 10 to 15 batteries a month replacing dead units.
So far I have not had to replace the new vendor's.

I replaced my OEM battery at about 84K miles last year so that was 8 years, and it was solid right up to the end when it just flatlined. Couldn't believe my good luck, but the I never had to replace a single light bulb in my '99 Dakota over 13 years and 139K mile either! Maybe I'm lucky.

If I'm not mistaken, the factory spec for the battery is a 730 CCA H7 battery. If there is an extra 1.5" of length on the battery tray(height and width are the same), you can put in the Odyssey 49-950. That's about one of the highest rated H8 batteries you can get. I just put one in my EcoD, it's a 950 CCA AGM battery.
