so came out of dinner.. used remote start to fire the ol ***** up.. " it's 110" degrees out side " I was about 150 ft away.. and truck was parked on a steep slope. Anyways I hear what sounds like a lifter coming apart.. and I'm like " is that my truck??!?" shut it off sound went away, I was still over 100 ft away. got to the truck fired her up with the key.. and it sounds like a lifter is about to just take off and fly away.. I pop the hood.. well that's not a exhaust leak.. get in the truck.. rev it like 3-4 times.. then **** it is gone.. haven't had it since.. I think maybe one of the front lifters wasn't getting oil,?? due to the incline.??. but I dunno???.I do know what hemi tick, and exhaust leaks sound like.. this was not either of those. truck has 10k miles on it. If it's gonna **** I hope it doesn't do it on my way home tonight. Thanks for letting me vent

I had a 95 Tahoe with a 350, and it commenced to rattling so bad I had it hauled on a rollback to the dealer. They called me later and said come get it. I asked WTH, and they said a stuck lifter and GM's procedure was to let it sit idling for XX number of minutes, and if it quiets down, ship it. I must admit it never did that again. Everything else fell apart, but the lifters were quiet...

My guess is a bit of oil starvation due to the incline but, I didn't hear it so can't say for sure. But that seems really plausible.

I was like holly **** lol.. well we will see how it goes..I'm gonna go with the oil starvation. on the plus side hit up a pep boys while we were there and got all the goods for my next oil change.. that penzoik 0-40 is a ***** to find in a store.
